校长说：一所关注孩子明天的学校|The School for Your Child’s Future

尊敬的各位家长， 亲爱的同学们，30年的教育历程， 20年的国际教育经验， 让我常常思考一个问题，5年，10年以后，我们的孩子需要拥有什么素质和哪些技能才能让他们在未来不确定的世界里生存下来， 生存得更好？在全球化时代，孩子们又要拥有哪些能力才能成为参与世界事务的合作者？

有没有一所学校能培养孩子们拥有这些技能呢？有， 这就是南通诺德安达学校， 也是我从苏州来到南通的原因。

With 30 years of experience in education, in which 20 years are international, I am often thinking about what qualities and skills our children will need in 5 years, 10 years, to survive and live better in the unforeseeable future. In this age of globalization, what capabilities do our children need to become a collaborator in world affairs?

Is there a school that can give children all these skills? 

Yes. I believe it is the Nord Anglia School Nantong and this is why I came to Nantong from Suzhou.

南通诺德安达学校总容量1728名学生， 可以为一半有需要的孩子提供舒适、安全、规律住宿环境。现在我们有小学、初中和高中三个学段。

学校从学术水平、个人品性和社会交住三个方面培养学生适应未来社会的素养。 信息化科学技术开启了教育进入无边界学习时代， 而新冠病毒的出现加快了无边界学习的速度。现在只要孩子愿意学习，掌握了学方法，给他一台电脑，一个手机，一个Wifi，他可以找到所有他想要的知识。现在教师的教学理念要从教知识变为教给学生探究方法，面对海量信息，辨别信息和过滤信息的思考能力，调整自己的学习过程和学习方法的反思能力，使他成为他的领域中知识渊博的人。

身心健康是一个人终身幸福的首要条件， 面对变化的环境能适应和应对， 面对困难能坚持下去，对于正确的事情能坚持原则，对新生事物勇于尝试，对于不同于自己的意见也能接纳的态度 ，成为一个身心平衡全面发展的人。

作为一个社会人， 要能与他人合作才能走远。用他人可以接受的方式进行交流，用自己擅长的方式表达自己，尊重他人，关爱他人，具有团队合作意识和团队合作能力。

Nord Anglia School Nantong has a full capacity of 1,728 students, and half of the students can live in the comfortable, safe accommodation residence on campus, with a well-balanced itinerary managed by the school. We now have 231 students in three stages: elementary, secondary, and high school.

Nord Anglia School Nantong trains the students to adapt to the future society from three aspects: academic achievement, personal quality and social interaction. Information technology has initiated the era of borderless learning, and the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus has accelerated its pace. Today, as long as the child is willing to, they can find any information they want, given the proper method and tools, a computer, a mobile phone, and Wi-Fi access. The teachers of today need to change their teaching philosophy from instruction of knowledge to the training of inquiry methodology. In the face of massive information, the ability to discern and filter information, to adjust one’s learning process and to reflect on his learning are essential to his growth into a learned man.

Physical and mental health are necessary for the happiness of a person. The ability to adapt to and cope with changing circumstances, to persist at difficult times, to adhere to one’s belief, to have the courage to try new things, and to tolerate different opinions are essential to the balanced development of one’s body and mind.

As a social being, we need to cooperate with others in order to achieve high. Communicate in a way that others can accept, speak in a way you are good at, respect and care for others and team spirit – these are what is required.

南通诺德安达学校设计了从小学到高中12年一贯制无缝衔接课程，知识上的衔接、语言上的衔接、学习方法上的衔接。知识上的衔接，1-9年级开足开齐国家义务课程，为学生进一步高中学习夯实基础；语言上的衔接，小学双语教学，中英文比例50：50， 初中双语教学，中英文比例30：70，高中全英文教学， 学生可以无缝衔接国外全英文大学的学习。学习方法的衔接-探究式学习，合作式学习诺德安达学校的常态学习方式。

The course goals are the foundation of curriculum implementation. The courses are the path to the goals. We are training students who can go out and get back. To go out, they must understand universal languages and the culture they embody, and act as the ambassadors of Chinese culture; to come back, they need to master their own mother tongue. Wherever we go, a sense of cultural identity and confidence is important. Our students will become world leaders with an international perspective and an awareness and ability of lifelong learning.

Nord Anglia Nantong designed a 12-year curriculum from elementary school to senior high school with consistent standards in the instruction of knowledge, language teaching and learning methods. In terms of knowledge, the 1-9 grades cover all the compulsory education courses required by the state and pave the way for high school. At the elementary stage, half of the courses are taught with Chinese and the other half in English; in the secondary school stage, the ratio is 30/70; and in senior high school, all courses are taught in English – so the students are fully prepared for the courses in foreign universities. In terms of learning methods, exploratory learning and collaborative learning are the usual methods used at Nord Anglia schools.

Nord Anglia School Nantong is an international school with an international campus platform. The Nord Anglia Global Campus connects students in Nantong with children from 66 schools in countries around the world from an early age. They read the same books, research on common social problems, and get to know the understanding and perspectives of children of their same age in different countries. Thus, the students are able to think about problems from different perspectives in elementary schools and cultivate their international perspectives.
