Ian毕业于英国哥比亚大学小学教育专业。这所大学的前身是英国久负盛名的Charlotte Mason教育学院。大学毕业之后，Ian曾在英国三所不同的小学任教，八年多的教学经验让Ian对英式教育和英语教学有着独到的见解。

Ian不仅在课堂教学上得心应手，同时自己也是一个勤勉好学的老师。他一直在积极探索让学生积极融入课堂并且激发学生潜能的教学方法，特别是数学教学领域。上课之余，Ian也参与到学校对新教师的培训当中，与大家分享他的教学经验和教学经历，帮助新老师迅速成长。

Ian：我相信双语教育对任何人来说都是一个极好的机会。学习另一种语言可以更好地为孩子的将来做准备。双语教育还可以帮助孩子加深对他人的理解，建立跨越沟通障碍的信心，在平常的语言学习中融合对多元文化的理解。

Ian：激发学生的学习动力和帮助学生融入到课堂教学中来是我每天坚持奋斗的目标。我相信正是这些目标促使我在确保每个孩子都能在学有所成的同时享受学习和教育带来的快乐。我是一位充满活力和创新精神的老师，在我的课上，我努力让所有孩子都参与到我的课堂教学中来，为他们之后取得优异的学习成绩打下坚实的寄出。我会为学生的学习创造一个充满挑战的学习环境，让孩子们有信心去面对挑战，让他们不会害怕犯错和失败，并把错误和失败视为学习和进步的机会。我希望通过每天的课堂教学，为孩子们在应对未来激烈的竞争的时候做好准备。

我相信，给孩子们更多的时间和机会去探索课外的世界，有利于他们发展自己未知的技能和能力，建立自信和自尊。居住旅行和课外俱乐部是一种很好的方式来帮助孩子们成长，给他们创造这样的活动机会也一直是我作为教师的重要目标。

Ian：来NACIS宁波执教，将是我第一次踏上亚洲的土地。中国是一个非常重视教育，文化和生活质量的国度，我自己也很希望能够体验东方文化。我曾在欧洲的很多地方旅行，体验不同的城市已经成为了我的爱好。我最近访问了都柏林、布达佩斯、哥德堡和纽约。

Ian：团队合作和沟通是至关重要的，我觉得，三人行，必有我师。拥有不同生活体验的人总是可以互相传授新的东西。所有的老师都是学校大家庭的一个重要组成部分，大家相互沟通交流并朝着同一个方向努力，将会让学生们融入到我们知识丰富、内容有趣的双语课程中。我期待成为这个充满活力的团队的一份子，各抒己见，从善如流。

Ian graduated from the University of Cumbria with a Bachelor degree in Primary Education, this university was formerly known as Charlotte Mason House of Education, which was established in 1892. He has more than 8 years teaching experience in 3 different schools in the UK, specialised in both the Welsh and English curriculum.

Ian has a great interest in teaching and learning and he is always looking at new approaches to try with his class, specifically within the area of mathematics. Ian also has mentored newly qualified teachers through their first years of teaching in the UK.

Ian: After my Skype interview with Kevin, it was clear that although the school is new, he has a clear vision of where he wants the school to go. The fact that the school is new is something that really appealed to me – joining a school at the beginning of its journey and watching it grow.

Ian: To date, in my career, I have had experience of teaching EAL pupils in an English setting. I believe bilingual education adds to a pupil’s skill set as they go on to be citizens of the future. Having taught in Wales, I had to learn the Welsh language in order to teach it, as bilingual learning is a real focus. Although my Welsh is sketchy, I can see how being bilingual could provide more opportunities, for students, as they progress into the working world.

Ian：I want to create a learning environment where there is no judgment when a student has a pitfall in their learning. A collaborative learning environment where students can explore learning and be curious about the world. I believe there is nothing more powerful than curiosity and wonder when it comes to learning. When reading, we become curious about the character, we formulate questions in our mind and that, in turn, makes is interested to read on. This pedagogical theory can be applied to any learning; spark curiosity and the learning will follow.

Ian：I decided that I wanted to teach abroad when I was studying at university. However, I got a job in the UK and then moved to a couple of different schools before taking the plunge to move to China. Why china? It is exciting, developing and Ningbo provides that city feel whilst not being too big and overwhelming such as Beijing. I like to see new things and discover new places, whether it be a new town/city or a new place to eat out. I am looking forward to exploring Ningbo and getting involved in the local culture.

Ian: Working collaboratively is something I believe to be of great value in a teaching team. We all have our own area of strength and this should be utilised. Likewise, our areas of development could be strengthened through the use of our co-workers. This is something I am look forward to when I begin my journey at NACIS Ningbo.
