除了在课堂上积极提问以外，踊跃回答问题也是一个让老师注意到你的好方法。不得不说在这方面外国学生还是比我们强很多的，在有外国学生的课堂上很难会冷场，几乎每个问题都会有人回答。所以小编建议同学们在课堂上积极举手发言，增加老师对你的好感度，这点对GPA（平均成绩点数）可是至关重要呢（小编在后面的GPA部分会有详细介绍）！

       You might have the opportunity to have class with other vvs students, teachers here focus on participation more, it is good for you to ask any questions you want, no matter how silly it is. The faculty members are always glad to help you. Moreover, it is also a great opportunity to let faculty members to know you better.

In addition, enthusiastically answering the questions also a good way to make teacher focus you more. We have to say in this part foreign students are better than us. If the class has the foreign students, they are always active. Most of the questions have students to answer. So we think that the students should actively raise your hands to answer the questions in the class, to increase your teacher favorability, and this point to GPA (grade point average) is very essential! 小组合作想必对市西国际部的学生并不陌生，在VVS小组合作的任务就更多、更有挑战性了。首先，因为是和外国学生一起上课的，分组时难免会和他们分在一起。由于语言的差异，沟通起来肯定不如母语方便。但也正是在一次次的锻炼中，我们不仅能提高自己的英语表达能力，更能加强彼此的了解，交到几个外国朋友。

           当然，我们的母语IB中文课也有许多小组合作的活动，其中最主要的就是小组演讲和质疑了。具体来说就是3~4个同学会被分为一组，对一篇文学作品从一个特定角度进行分析，然后向其他同学展示讨论结果（展示形式不定，一般同学都采用ppt演讲的形式）。为了课堂上的展示能够臻于完美，小组同学在课外思想的火花碰撞得可激烈了！在展示过程中，其他小组的同学经常对演讲的同学进行质疑，可以是提问，也可以反驳或补充他的观点。小组合作的表现也会被算进平时成绩里，所以小编建议大家一定要抓住小组讨论的机会，好好表现哦！

    We had group work before, but in vvs, it is way more challenging. Sometime we have to work with other vvs students which might be hard to communicate. However, this can help you improve your English significantly and have more VVS friends.

         Of course, our IB first language--Chinese literature course also have a lot of group work activities, the most important is the team presentation and questioned. Specifically, there are three to four students will be divided into one group, and you need to make an analysis of literary works from a particular point of view and show your results of the discussion. ( You can choose different kinds of methods to show your results, and we usually choose the ppt to show). To show perfectly, the same group of students will intensely debate. When you are showing your group’s work, the other students of other groups can question and also refute. And the team work will be also counted in grades.

在IB课程中你选择的课程决定了你今后的发展方向，所以选课时一定要慎重、慎重、再慎重（重要的事情说三遍）！

           在VVS换课需要经过非常复杂的流程

学生提出换课申请 -> 带队老师确认 -> 市西本部审批 -> VVS校方核准 -> 学生换课成功

原本我们班有几个想换课的同学在听了如此复杂的流程后都放弃了这个念头，所以小编建议下一批来VVS的同学在临走之前一定要确认好自己所选的课程，不要抱有先试上，不喜欢的话再换课这样的念头。（即使不来VVS求学的同学，今后要申请高等学府也应该慎重，这是对自己的负责！）

You have to very careful when you are selecting what are you going to take in IB because it will effect the courses you will choose in the university.

It is very complicated to switch course in VVS, as we have to get permission from both Shixi and VVS.

Students make an application to change classes -> Teachers confirm -> Shixi approves -> VVS approves ->  Successfully change the class

We suggesr that it would be better to fully made up your mind before you came here.

           VVS的作业不算很多，但千万不能迟交。因为迟交的作业在分数上最起码会降一个等第，从而影响到你的总评。所以每次作业布置下来一定要看清楚deadline（截止时间）。如果遇到一些“大型”作业（如制作模型或小组演讲），一定要提前做好准备，不要等到最后一天再熬夜苦做，这样既有损健康，又影响作业质量。

         The homework in VVS doesn’t have pretty much, but do not be late because you score will drop. So every time you must be careful with the deadline of the homework. If you have some big homework (such as making a model or group presentation), it must be prepared it ahead of schedule, never wait until the last day and then stay up all night to do it, it isn’t only effect your health and also the quality of the homework.

           在VVS，大多数科目都会有定期的小测验，一般2周一次。如何在考试中取得好成绩，跟复习是紧密相连的。复习最重要的依据就是课堂笔记了，所以建议给每门科目都准备一本单独的笔记本（或者记在电脑上也行），必须定期整理，那么复习时只要把笔记上的内容捋一遍就行了。

       In VVS, most subjects will have regular quizzes, usually once every 2 weeks. The good grades you want to get is closely link with the review. The most important basis of the review is the notes. We suggest that preparing a notebook for each courses (or recording on the computer is also OK), must regularly clear up, then when you are reviewing, you only need your notebook.

一般来说，每次考试前老师会确定好时间、地点给予同学Extra Help（爱心辅导）。小编的建议是，如果没有时间冲突，Extra Help一定要去。即使你没有问题，也可以听听老师是怎么为其他同学答疑解惑的，说不定别人会提出你之前没考虑到的问题呢！不管怎样，Extra Help对考试还是很有帮助的，是不可错过的复习机会！

           In general, before each test the teacher will determine a good time and place to give students some extra help. We suggest if you have the time, you must go for the extra help. Even if you don’t have questions, you can also listen to the teacher how to answer  the other students’ questions, and maybe others will ask some questions that you never think about! Anyway, extra help is helpful for the exam! Don’t miss it!

平时练习，如果你有一次没考好，不要心灰意冷，因为在VVS有时候会有重考的机会。

          还记得第二周的生物考试大家考的都不太理想，生物老师Kristen就对我们说：“这次考试大家的分数都很低，没能体现出你们的真正水平，所以你们可以进行一次重考。因为根据你们的平时表现，我认为，你们是属于A或B档的学生。所以你们不要为这次考试的成绩难过沮丧，不要认为自己的学习能力很差，要对自己说----这个分数反映的不是我的真实水平！”（小编知道这是老师对我们的鼓励。）

重考的试卷肯定跟之前的卷子不一样，重考的规则每个老师也是不同的：有些老师会把重考的试卷出的更难；有些老师规定重考交卷后只取你第二次考的成绩（即使重考成绩比第一次低也是如此）；有些老师只会在全班都考砸的情况下才会给我们提供重考的机会。

重考的意义是为了让同学们找回对学习的兴趣与信心。分数不是最重要的，最重要的是学生对知识的把握及运用。重考确实为提高成绩，尤其是提高我们学习的信心提供了很好的机会。但小编建议同学们不能过分依赖于重考，不要等自己考砸了才想起要认真复习，每次考试都全力以赴才是正道，毕竟不是每次考试都会有重考的 机会（数学HL的同学从来都是一次定生死的）。

      If you get a poor grade on the test once. Don't worry. You’ll get a second chance for a do-over.

I remember that during our second week here, we didn't exactly do very well on our biology test. Our teacher told us that she would really appreciate it if we could retake the test again to demonstrate our real abilities. She kindly encouraged us and spoke highly of us as devoted students. And that’s what made me feel better about myself. Just tell yourself that you had it in you to pass the test! ( And I am truly grateful for the inspirations our teacher have given us)

The test paper of the retake is different from the previous one. And every teacher has different rules and methods regarding the retake. Some teachers prefer to make the retake quiz a bit more difficult while some make the rule of taking the second grade even if it’s lower. And there are some teachers who would only provide a chance for a retake if the whole class does poorly.

The whole point of retaking the test is to help students find their confidence and interest of the subject back. The grade is not the most important thing. What’s important is our ability to use the knowledge. It’s true we can try to get a better grade through a retake quiz, we shouldn't totally rely on it. We should try our best every time on every exam that’s coming our way!

可进步了不少呢！

下周我们就要进行期末考试了，这个礼拜是复习周。学校规定review week（复习周）时老师不能上新课，而是给学生进行以往知识点的复习，形式不定（可以是普通的答疑，也可以是以游戏的形式进行复习），但不能给学生布置作业。然而这并不代表学生就可以休息放松了。相反，学校是希望给学生更多的时间进行自主复习。所以这一周同学们也陆陆续续为考试做着准备，反倒是比平常更忙碌了。

We are going to have a final exam next week. This week is a review week. The school says that the teachers can not begin a new part during the review week. Instead, they should give students a review for the past knowledge to the students. The form may be irregular (it can be an ordinary question-answer or a game-based review). However, it does not mean that students can have a rest and relax. On the contrary, the school just wants to give students more time to review independently.  So this week, all of the students prepare for the exam, but rather busier than usual.

VVS的GPA包括考试成绩，平时的课堂发言，作业情况。想要拿到理想的GPA，不管是课上发言还是课后提问，总之一定要和老师多多交流，给老师留一个积极主动学习的好印象。不然，即使你考试成绩再高，你的总评也会不尽如人意。

VVS GPA includes exam scores, the questions you ask or answer in the classes and the quality of the homework . If you want to get the ideal GPA, whether speaking in class or asking the questions after class, in short, you should have more communication with teacher, to make the teachers stay a positive impression of active learning to you. Otherwise, even if you test scores is high, your final grades still isn’t very good.

每到周五，Dining Hall（食堂）门口便蜂拥着一群学生。随着他们的目光望去，便会发现那公告栏上的trip（活动）名额是他们共同的“猎物”。而所谓周末trip，事实上是从周五晚上开始的，分校内及校外两种。

We have trip that can be signed every friday outside the dining hall. There are different kind of activity that divide into two parts: inside or outside activities.

 由于这项活动比较“稀有”而且限定一次四人。

而校外活动名额有限（根据校车只能限定14人），所以能否签到校外trip，对每个同学而言，都是一场体力与智力的较量。

前往地点如下：

Flagstaff（弗拉格斯塔夫城市） ，VOC/Weber‘s（小型超市），Walmart（大型超市），West Sedona（电影或晚餐活动），Outlets（奥特莱斯)等。

（小编对Flagstaff进行一点补充，让接下来前往VVS的同学们“少走弯路”。Flagstaff这个trip被分为三种路线，mall商场, town小镇, 以及target大型超市。在时间充裕的情况下，通常一次可选两条线路，而带队老师会事先询问或于名单上标明。）

       It is kind of hard to get those name signed, as everyone wants to go out.

We have bunch of place to go. For instance, flagstaff, VOC,walmart, west sedona and outlets.

       In addition, Flagstaff is divided into three parts: mall, town and Target(a big supermarket like Walmart). If you have enough time, usually you can choose two places yo go.
