During this special extended holiday, where we live seems to have been pressed with the “pause button”. Billions of people over the country stay home together, so do SUISers. No travelling, no party and shopping, we make all out to prevent from the coronavirus epidemic. Feel bored? Homework is done, books are finished reading, what else could we do? It’s time to watch SUIS TV!

In this issue, principal Linda Du brought us warm greetings via video. She encouraged students to enjoy as much as they could at home. Don’t panic and be confident that we will overcome the epidemic in the end. For the near future, we shall make better efforts every day in order to become a responsible and dedicated person to the people and country. ‘Patience’, ‘Confidence’, and ‘Determination’, bear in mind these three words and feel them by ‘heart’. Working together with ‘heart”, we will win!

All of our teacher miss their students so much. Have they grown up, taller or fatter? Teachers also sent their good wishes for the new semester. We are looking forward to returning back to school by the time the epidemic is over.

In the issue, our teachers also provides parents and students with recommended book list of each grade. We believe that with the support of this ‘spiritual Food’, it will for sure lead to a wonderful parent-kid reading experience.

危机并不可怕，暂停是为了再出发。小学生作为社会的重要一分子，在假期里更需要积极了解疫情时事，在危难中深刻理解学习与生活的意义。看完了寒假特刊中的开学第一课“生活就是功课”，相信你也有所领悟：一张安静的书桌来之不易，你们通过这段时间的学习、交流、思考所沉淀出来的对生命的理解，对家庭的认知，对社会和国家秩序的认同，将会助你们成长为新一代的小公民，并以此推动社会的进步。

When crisis hits, it is also an opportunity. As an important part of society, primary school students need to positively understand the current situation of the epidemic and further understand the meaning of learning and life during the difficult time. We hope that after watching this special issue, you will come up with your own thoughts towards meaning of life, importance of family, and identity with social and national order. Through learning, communication and critical thinking, you will become a qualified citizen that help and promote the progress of society.

Going into our Chinese New Year holiday, never did we expect that the novel coronavirus wouldturn into a crisis. Immediately teams formed together to gather information and start planning out what we would do to make sure learning was still taking place and students needs would be met. Our curriculum leaders and teachers have been working tirelessly to switch from an in-school concept of teaching to that of the digital world. We are continually monitoring and adjusting to make sure learning is optimal.

目前，国际融合课程开展远程教学已进入第二周，老师间通过相互协作与共同努力，保障了学生每日的家庭学习得以良好地完成。孩子们也纷纷适应家庭学习环境，保持在校学习的精神与创造力，为早日重返校园做好充足的准备。

We are now well into our second week of remote learning and need to say we are amazed at the abilities and talents of our teaching teams to come together in a collaborative group to make sure learning is still happening. Our students are striving to shift to a home learning environment and have done so with creativity and passion to get back into learning after the holiday period.
