After huge amounts of work and preparation over the past year and beyond, Wellington College International Hangzhou officially opened its doors to pupils on Monday 3rd September. We were delighted to meet and greet all the founding pupils and their families, and look forward to build a caring, positive and inclusive international community together with all our teachers, pupils and parents.
Now, let’s take a look at our newest Wellingtonian’s first day of school.
A warmest greeting to our founding pupils and their families at school gate, led by our Head of Pre-Prep and Prep Mr. Jonathan Mills, together with our class teachers.
Pupils gathered together in the sports field with their classmates and teachers, then made their way to class through the main building.
Pupils were guided by their teachers to find their lockers and store their bags in.
Mr. Paul Rogers, our Founding Executive Master of Wellington College Hangzhou went to each class to meet the Wellingtonians.

Mandarin Class began with self-introductions
Lunch time at the cafeteria with fellow pupils, class teachers and teaching assistants. A wide variety of meal choices caters to all international pupils’ needs.
Break time for pupils gave them an opportunity to play outdoor games with teachers, eat snacks and make more friends.
Wellington College International Hangzhou
Wellington College International Hangzhou officially opened its doors to pupils in September 2018, offering a world-class international education for children of expatriate families from the ages of 5 to 18. In Pre-Prep and Prep-School, the College follows the English National Curriculum, which is enhanced through the cross-curricula International Primary Curriculum. In Senior School, pupils will complete the IGCSE and then choose to follow either the IB Diploma Programme or A Levels, depending on their needs. As with all Wellington College schools, the Wellington Values and Identities form the core of the holistic education provided by Wellington College International Hangzhou.
