诺德安达的寄宿生活为何如此令人向往？Why NAS Ningbo's Boarding is So Amazing?

2019/2020学年即将结束，回忆两个月前复学的时候，孩子们的脸上都洋溢着灿烂的笑容，因为学校是一个充满爱和温暖的大家庭，因为这里有可爱的小伙伴和老师们。而对于寄宿学生而言，学校真的是他们的第二个幸福的 “家” 了！

作为寄宿学校办学专家，诺德安达旗下有众多的学校都在全球享有盛誉，比如位于美国的威利学校、泰国的丽晶学校、印度的橡树岭学校、瑞士的博索雷学校等等。

The school year of 2019/2020 will end soon. Everyone in the school was so excited when our lovely students returned to school two months ago. School is a place full of love and warmth and to many boarding students, school is their “second home”.

As an expert in operating boarding schools, many of NAE’s boarding schools have gained global reputations, for instance, The Village School in America, Regents International School in Thailand, Oakridge International School in India, and Collège Alpin Beau Soleil in Switzerland.

诺德安达出色的寄宿项目离不开优秀的宿管团队。目前，宁波诺德安达的寄宿项目由Fiona Smith女士负责管理，Fiona毕业于伦敦金史密斯大学，获得荣誉学士学位，并拥有丰富的家校沟通和寄宿管理经验。此次，我们邀请到了Fiona女士和各位家长浅谈寄宿对孩子成长带来的优势。

In China, we have 8 bilingual schools that provide unique bilingual education and premium boarding to our students live in China.

NAE’s boarding program won’t be successful without the excellent boarding teams. Currently, Fiona Smith worked as Head of Boarding in NAS Ningbo. Fiona graduated from Goldsmiths University with honor undergraduate degree, and she has profound experience in boarding management. We are very happy to invite Fiona to share with parents about the benefits of boarding.

Fiona Smith（FS）：“对于部分离家较远的家庭，或者家长大多数时间忙于工作，从而没有太多精力照顾孩子，那么寄宿学校是一个非常好的选择。首先，寄宿生活给予孩子们与伙伴们和老师们更多交流的机会，以此提高他们的语言沟通能力。当孩子们有团队作业的时候，他们就可以在课堂外继续面对面交流、讨论、激发更多的灵感。

此外，当家长为孩子们准备了特定的线上课程，我们的老师也将提供相应的帮助，更重要的是，我们的寄宿学生可以享受到非常多的学习资源，比如图书馆、体育中心、键盘教室，充分满足学生个性化发展。”

Fiona Smith (FS): “For parents who live far away or have a busy business routine, then sending their child to boarding is a good option. Firstly, being a boarding students offers them more chances to communicate with fellow students and teachers. When they have team project, they are able to continue to finish the project together with other boarding classmates.

Also, students can continue their online course which is assigned by their parents, for our boarding teachers will provide help. Lastly, boarding students have access to various resources such as library, sports center, and keyboard room to enhance their individual development.”

Fiona Smith（FS）：“说到是否适合，其实取决于孩子和家长。对于低龄段的孩子，家长的陪伴确实很重要，同时家长也是孩子的第一任老师。然而，家长需要作出选择，如果他们决定要把孩子送到学校寄宿，那么，家长需要尽早培养孩子的日常生活技能和学习习惯以及独立性。

比如说，学会如何自己穿校服、整理床铺、刷牙、洗澡、保持整洁，以及更重要的是做好离开家的情绪准备。这需要一定的时间，在学习的过程中，孩子们肯定会犯错误，家长们要耐心地引导并且给予适当的鼓励。

如果孩子们在成为寄宿学生前具备了一定的生活技能和习惯，那么他们将相对更好地适应学校的寄宿生活。同时，家长们也不会太过于担心孩子们的学习生活。”

Fiona Smith (FS): “NAS Ningbo provides boarding service to all grades, and in term of suitableness, it actually depends on child and parents. For lower-grade students, it is important for parents to stay with them. But, they have to make a decision. When they decide to prepare their children to begin boarding, they need to develop their daily life skills, learning habit, and independence as early as possible.

For example, children need to learn how to wear uniform, arrange bed, brush teeth, take shower, keep hygine, and prepare emotion to be away from home. It takes time and patience, and in the process of learning things, parents should allow them to make mistakes and encourage them when appropriate.

Students will likely better settle into boarding if they already have the related skills and habits. Meanwhile, parents wouldn’t be so worried about their children’s study life in school.”

Fiona Smith（FS）：“当寄宿学生们第一次来到学校的时候，学校允许家长进来帮助孩子们整理房间，把宿舍变得更温馨。在此之后，宿管团队的老师们提供帮助。最终，孩子们都将逐渐学会独立完成相应的任务。

寄宿的时间表是比较紧凑的，宿管老师会一直提醒孩子们，根据宁波诺德安达近两年的寄宿情况来看，大多孩子们掌握得很快。对于低龄段的孩子，宿管老师会给予更多的帮助和关怀，比如给他们吹头发；在孩子情况低落的时候，老师安抚他们并讲睡前故事等等。

同时，孩子们会从老师身上学习良好的行为表现，知道哪些行为是不恰当的，知道进行改正和反思。”

Fiona Smith (FS): “When students come to boarding for the first time, parents are allowed to help arrange. But after that, boarding team will help them and students will arrange them by themselves ultimately.

Boarding schedule is tight, and we consistently remind they what need to do. Based on the past two years of experience in NAS Ningbo boarding, students pick up quickly. For lower-grade students, we would be more patient and offer extra care. For instance, we help them dry their hair, cheer them up when they feel depressed, and tell bed story.

At the same time, students will learn good behavior from teachers, and they would know what behavior is inappropriate and know to correct and reflect.”

Fiona Smith（FS）：“在学术方面，我们提供晚自修，各个学科老师会把每个年级的作业安排同步到指定的作业日历，相应地，宿管老师会帮助学生安排作业计划并给予指导，特别是低龄段的学生。对部分有课外线上学习的学生，我们可以提供设备支持以及帮助学生安排学习计划。

在社交方面，宿管老师会引导学生与同伴和老师建立良好的关系，懂得关爱、尊重他人。在个人方面，学校提供丰富多样的课外拓展课程，帮助学生得到个性化的发展。此外，寄宿学生也有机会参与到专属的活动，比如电影之夜、辩论赛等，孩子们可以寻找陪伴一生的友谊。”

Fiona Smith (FS): “Academically, we provide study hall for primary and secondary school students. Teachers put homework on the designated calendar, and boarding teachers would then help students arrange their study plan accordingly. For those who have additional online learning, we will provide device and academic support.

Socially, boarding teachers will guide students build positive relationship with peers and teachers, and teach them know the importance of caring and respect. Personally, school provides various ECAs that promote their personal development. Besides, boarding students will have the opportunity to participate in boarding activities such as movie night and debate competition, as well as finding life-long friendships.”
