Before we get to the differences, let's take a look at the similarities first. Some parents would wonder if their children will be able to lay a solid foundation in their learning at international schools. Actually, at NAS Nantong, the complete compulsory education is provided, and with high standards. Thus the students’ basic knowledge is well developed.
The biggest difference is that children at international schools are more self-confident and happy, which you can tell by their smiling faces. The parents would wonder what university they can get in if they study at NAS Nantong. As long as the child works hard, the parents do their part and the teacher are dedicated to their work, the child will develop to their maximal potential. However, we have a different philosophy of education from public schools: NAS Nantong respects every child, and we do not rank them by exam results, which only serve as evidence of what support the child needs. In the library there are cozy places for learning and activities. The child is not afraid to speak, feels comfortable inside and outside, and feels free to express himself.
Second, the ecology of learning is different. NAS Nantong has foreign teachers from all over the world and Chinese teachers from different cities in China. What is it like to live in the school dormitory, and how is the boarding life administrated?
我们的寄宿项目目标是培养孩子自理、自立、自律的能力。
我们教学生学会整理自己的物品,管理自己的时间,现在我们3年级以上的学生全部可以使用洗衣机和烘干机,自己洗衣服,全程都会有老师看护,保证学生安全。低年级孩子住宿,由宿务老师教一半,自己做一半。我们一年级的孩子住宿两个月之后,都可以整理自己的物品,会洗小内衣小袜子,会根据自己的时间安排自己的事情。
宿舍,为学生提供安全、规律、舒适的学习和生活环境。
安全:全校有24小时的安保和保健医生,有360°无盲点确保安全,24小时新风系统,每日空气质量检测保证孩子身心安排。
规律:我们从早上8点到4点半由教学团队老师管理学生,下午4点半到晚上9点半由我们专职的生活老师支持和管理学生,夜晚有夜班阿姨照顾,早上6点到8点生活老师管理学生。1位生活老师管理20位学生,所有的生活老师都是本科以上,我们有生活老师拥有小学和中学教师资格证,小学学生5点到6点由教学老师指导学生做作业,同时生活老师也会管理学生自习,保证孩子学习和生活的规律。

The goal of our boarding program is to develop children's ability to take care of themselves, their self-reliance, and self-discipline.
We teach students how to organize their belongings and manage their time. Today, all NAS Nantong students at grade 3 and above can use washing machines and dryers independently, though an adult will be by their side throughout the process to ensure their safety. The children in the lower grades will have nursery governesses taking care of them while they do the chores by themselves. After two months of staying at the dormitories, our first-year students will be able to take care of their belongings, wash their underwear and socks, and arrange their itinerary.
The dormitory provides students with a safe, routine and comfortable learning and living environment.
Security: NAS Nantong provides security and health services around the clock. Equipped with a fresh air system that covers every spot of the campus 24 hours a day, the air quality is guaranteed for children's physical and mental health.
Itinerary: From 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, the teaching team are in charge of the students’ learning. From 4:30 pm to 9:30 pm, students are supported and taken care of by full-time nursery governesses, and in the night by dormitory keepers. From 6:00 to 8:00 in the morning, the nursery governesses will take care of the students. Every 20 students are supported by one nursery governess. All the nursery governesses hold bachelor’s degrees, and some are holders of primary and middle school teacher qualifications. Primary school students are supported by the teachers to do homework from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. The nursery governesses are also responsible for the students' self-study to make sure they keep a regular schedule in both learning and everyday life.
Environment: There are 4 students in each dormitory, which is equipped with washrooms and separate showers. The students have their own desks and wardrobes, as well as activity areas.

Foreign teachers at NAS Nantong are recruited internationally, and the Chinese teachers are recruited from across China. During the recruitment process, we find out about the teacher's personality, education philosophy, classroom management skills, and teaching strategies. Chinese teachers will give demonstration lessons, through which we examine their teaching skills.
Teacher team stability is also a concern for international schools. Actually, NAS Nantong is very friendly to outstanding teachers. Our culture is mutual respect, mutual support, mutual understanding and encouragement. The leadership team is supportive and helpful, not critical.
The Nord Anglia Education provides excellent salary and benefits, as well as extensive career development programs. The courses offered at NAS Nantong are developed by our experienced expert team at Nord Anglia Education. These bilingual courses are the most suitable to Chinese students. In addition to the compulsory curriculum, we also introduced international courses into our teaching.
First of all, the classrooms at NAS Nantong are different from ordinary school classrooms. They are designed to create a cooperative learning environment for the children. It helps the children learn to cooperate and develop with others. Second, we respect every individual student and their social needs.
