探究学习方法 | 在家学校的难点和建议
Due to the strong impact of the new coronavirus epidemic in China, the school officially launched an online Learning program starting from this week. To ensure a maximum and complete learning experience and to assist students at home, we will share learning resources in a special column on the official HQIS WeChat account.
因肺炎疫情影响,学校从本周开始正式启动了线上自主学习计划。为了最大限度地保证学生学习体验,学校同时会在微信公众号特别专栏中分享各类学习资源,辅助学生在家的自主学习,请家长们持续关注学校微信公众号动态,感谢!
We would like to provide opportunities for our students to fully interact with HQIS during this period, therefore we invite parents and students to send us student work or videos at home and collect their works during the E-learning session. The material must be related to their assignments and our units of inquiry. We will have a lucky draw and publish the works of our Lucky Learners on our official WeChat platform! We will provide special gifts to those lucky learners!
我们希望在学生自主学习的这段时间,提供给大家开放的学习分享平台。我们鼓励家长及学生积极向老师们投稿发送学生日常学习的成果及视频。我们将抽取幸运学习者,于HQIS公众平台发布他们的学习成果,被抽中的学生将于开学后获得神秘礼品!我们将在文末公布今日幸运学习者!

The Challenges of Home Learning
在家学习的难点和建议
Today we will talk about Home Learning.
Many students and parents are worried about one thing: is home learning inefficient? Actually, as long as students have the right approach, the efficiency of studying at home will never be lower than in the classroom! For students who are good at scheduling, it’s also a great opportunity to improve time-utilization skills to achieve better learning results.
我们今天先来谈谈在家学习。很多学生和家长会担心:在家学习会不会效率低下?其实只要掌握了正确的方法,在家学习的效率绝对不会比在课堂上低!对善于时间安排的同学来说,甚至更能提升时间利用率,达到更好的学习效果。
Ineffective home learning is due to several reasons:
在家学习出现效率低下的问题,原因主要有几点:
- Lack of a good learning environment
- The student's biological clock is stressed by bad habits such as going to bed late and waking up late
- Too many distractions at home
- Lack of self-learning skills
● 没有良好的学习氛围。
● 假期生物钟混乱,晚睡晚起。
● 家里有太多跟学习无关的诱惑。
● 还有一些学习效率低下的原因,是缺乏自主学习的能力。
Actually, the difficulty of home learning is due to the fact that the efficiency of communication is reduced by distance, but the self-discipline requirements are greatly increased. How can we overcome these two obstacles?
的确,在家学习的最大的挑战,就是远程之下沟通效率会大大降低,对个人自律能力的要求却大大提升。我们接下来就讲讲,针对这两大障碍该怎么办?

Here are four tips for efficient home learning:
给你的四个“在家学习”小建议:
First – Create your own home learning space
【1】首先,要营造一个在家学习的空间。
It can be either a study room or a reading corner. The size does not really matter, but remember to separate your learning space from the leisure space. Once you are in your learning space, you will have the same feeling you have in the classroom.
这里的学习空间,可以是一间书房,可以是一个读书角。空间的大小无所谓,但切记要把学习的空间和休闲的空间彻底分开。当你走进了这个学习空间,跟走进教室是一样的。
You don’t go to school wearing pajamas, do you? Then you cannot enter your learning space wearing pajamas as well. Wake up in the morning, wash your face, eat breakfast, and dress neatly for the new day. Do the same things you do during regular school days, it will help you to activate your “learning mode”. Don’t sleep in your learning space, take away books, magazines, game consoles and all the things that may distract you and, if possible, turn off your phone.
你不会穿着睡衣进教室对不对?你也不可以穿着睡衣进入的学习空间。早上起来,洗漱吃完早饭后,穿戴整齐后开始一天的学习。这是一种仪式感,更是营造的一种氛围。这种仪式感和氛围会把你拉入学习状态,很大程度可以提升你的学习效率。
千万不要在学习空间睡觉,把那些影响你学习的杂书、游戏机排除,除非有必要否则请把手机关掉。

Second – Try to manage your time efficiently
【2】其次,做好时间管理
在家学习高效的秘诀,根本上来说就是空间和时间上都尽可能接近学校的安排。在此基础上根据个人的习惯进行调整。前面说了空间,现在就谈谈时间。
One of the biggest challenges for home learners is given by the division between resting time and learning time. What does it mean? For example, while you are studying you suddenly want to lie down on your cozy sofa or take a look at your WeChat.And even when you read all the WeChat messages, you just can’t help but play your favorite game… And your learning time is gone!
在家学习对学生最大的考验就是区分学习和休息的能力。什么意思呢?就是你可能学着学着,突然就很想要在沙发上躺一下,躺下之后就想,不如我开手机回一下微信吧……拿起手机是真的很难放下,可能你看完了微信,又忍不住玩游戏了。学习——就抛之脑后。
Studying at home doesn’t mean you cannot rest. You just need to learn how to manage your time. There’s a time management method you can use. It’s called Pomodoro(tomato) Technique.
在家学习并不意味着不能休息,关键是要区分好休息和学习时间,推荐大家使用“番茄工作法”。

With this technique, you just need to use a timer to break down your learning time into 25 minutes intervals. During this period, just focus on your learning unit and tell yourself that this is the only thing you have to do! After that, relax for five minutes. Go to the restroom, text your friends or just take a break. After that, proceed with another 25-minutes study period.
“番茄工作法”简单的说就是“张弛有度”,以学习25分钟为一个单位,这25分钟里手机调成静音,什么东西都不要碰,告诉自己在这段时间里只能学习,别的什么都不能干。学习25分钟后,休息5分钟,去倒杯水、上个厕所、回一下微信,或者就是休息一下。继而再进入下一个25分钟。
After lunch, take a one hour break. Relax, stretch your bones, take a walk outside to get some fresh air. Exercise is important too. You can restart after lunch, for example at 1:00 pm. After one day of study, you can finally wear your pajamas to activate the “rest mode”!
午饭后安排一小时的午休,你可以舒展一下筋骨,在家里走一走,或者去窗口呼吸一下新鲜空气。伏案学习间隙的锻炼也是很重要的,到了下午1点开始下午的学习。
Time management is the key to successful home learning and it is useful for life and work. Students will soon or later go to university. We all know that in foreign universities many subjects are self-taught and students must study independently. Cultivating students’ time management skills from now will be very useful for them in the future.
结束一天的学习后,你可以换上睡衣,进入放学状态。
只有分清学习和休息时间,在家学习才会既有效率,又能劳逸结合。将来同学们都是要去国外读大学的,相信大家也耳闻国外大学基本上就是“自学”的状态,如果能从现在培养起自己安排学习的能力,对未来尽快适应海外学习,也是大有裨益的。

In addition, make daily learning and reviewing plans
【3】此外,还要做好日计划,复盘每日学习
Before starting a study session, it is recommended to make a daily plan. Prioritizeprimary content and then focus on secondary tasks. At the end of the day, go back to your checklist and ask yourself these questions: are all important tasks completed? If not, why? Do I need to review? If yes, what? Make adjustments the next day, find your own rhythm, adapt your needs to yourt argets.
在开始一天的学习前,建议可以做一个日计划。把今天要完成的学习任务,按照重要性从上至下列出来,完成一项打一个勾,优先完成重要性更高的任务,把阅读扩展材料等次要的任务排在后面。
一天的学习结束后,回头在复盘自己的Checklist,是否重要任务都完成了?没有完成是因为什么原因?是不是还有更大的空间可以挖掘?第二天再做调整,逐渐掌握自己的节奏,适当扩大舒适区,达到提升的目的。

Strengthen regular communication, seek help from teachers, and make good use of collaboration tools
【4】加强定期沟通,寻求老师帮助,善用协作工具
When you are studying at home, you are not alone. Our E-learning plan has been steadily launched this week. The school has distributed learning materials through mailboxes and online systems; posted notices on WeChat; teachers also recorded video tutorials to assist students during their home learning period. If you encounter difficulties during your studies, you can contact all of our teachers and coordinators. The teachers are on the other side of the screen ready to help you anytime!
在家学习,相信你绝对不是一个人。学校的线上学习计划从本周开始已经稳步开展,学校通过邮箱、线上系统发放学习材料;通过微信公众号发布通知;老师们也会录制视频教程,最大限度地保证学生学习。
如果你在学习过程中遇到困难,非常欢迎大家第一时间联系各年级课程主管和任课老师。老师们都在电脑的另一头为大家解答。

The challenge of the quarantine on the continuity of our HQIS students’ learning also presents an opportunity for our students to actively take on the role of inquiry-oriented learners during their time outside of the classroom. To help your students in their learning you can participate by asking questions about assigned work, collaborating with your students as they engage in the e-learning assignments, and encouraging your students to complete their work in a meaningful and thorough way.
上面的这些建议,希望能帮你们度过这一段特殊的时期。自主观察隔离期对于学生学习的延续性是一个不小的挑战,但同时也给学生提供了一个很好的机会:如何在课堂外成为更好的探究学习者。为了协助您的学生更好地完成自主学习任务,您可以与他们交流和作业相关的问题、给予学生适当的协作,并鼓励学生认真、完整地完成每天的任务。

All of us know that the IB emphasizes placing international mindedness at the center of education. In IB’s educational framework, special focus is given to “reaching in” to identify our personal traits in relation to others and “reaching out” to see our greater impact on the various communities to which we belong.
我们都知道IB课程强调教育的核心是国际化思维。在IB的教育框架中,我们特别注重“自我探究”,以确定我们与他人的关系中的个人特质,并“向外探究”,以看到我们对我们所属的各个社区的影响。
Today, we want to share with you a series of posters that can help to guide children to understand and define IB learner profile from three perspectives: personal, local, and global.
今天,我们为大家分享一组海报,可以帮助引导孩子从个人、社区、全球这三个角度认识并定义IB学习者培养目标。
Things you could try 您可以尝试
● Place the profile posters around the room and prompt learners, “Which attribute of the learner profile would you most need to be able to…” learners walk to the various posters and use the terms to explain their thinking.
在房间四周放置简介海报,并提示学习者,“您最需要学习者培养目标的哪个属性……”学习者走向各种海报,来阐述他们的想法。
● Use the posters as a reflection or goal-setting tool. One way I show(ed) this attribute is/was… One way I could continue to grow would be…

● Use the posters as a tool for prompting student action. How could we show open-mindedness personally, locally, or globally?
