
疫情当下,各地学校纷纷组织在校学生开展线上教学。线上课堂如火如荼的进行中,学生们也感受了一次与常规课堂完全不一样的E-Learning。每天通过各种不同的电子设备接入课堂,确实让学生们在这个特殊的阶段也没有暂停在知识海洋的遨游。只是每天长时间的用眼,致使不少家长的开始隐隐担忧疫情当下,如何帮助孩子健康用眼?
上述话题被NACIS家长共同体持续不断的讨论着,作为学校,我们也时刻关心每一个学生的健康状况。因此我们特地采访了上海闵行区诺德安达双语学校(NACIS)的在读学生Jeffrey Chen的爸爸,从爸爸及眼科主治医生的角度出发,与所有父母一起分享健康用眼小贴士。

Due to the epidemic, schools throughout China have organized students to attend online classes. The online classes enable students to have a completely different experience from regular classes. Everyday, they access the online classroom through a variety of devices. They haven’t stopped exploration in the ocean of knowledge even in this challenging period. However, since they have to use eyes for a long time each day, parents start to worry about the students eye health. How can we protect children’s eyes?
This is also a topic frequently discussed within NACIS parents community. As a school, we always pay close attention to students’ health. So we took this chance to interview NACIS student Jeffery Chen’s father. As a father and an oculist-in-charge, he will share with all parents some tips on eye health.

陈志,复旦大学附属眼耳鼻喉科医院眼科主治医师,复旦大学与加州大学伯克利分校联合培养博士,国际角膜塑形镜与近视控制学会资深会员。
在青少年近视防控个性化方案定制、特殊角膜接触镜尤其是OK镜验配上有丰富经验。陈医生也是畅销科普漫画《青少年近视防控》和《眼睛问题早知道》的作者。因首次报道近视防控的“鸡尾酒疗法”,被美国、加拿大、意大利、荷兰、新加坡、马来西亚等众多国家邀请做专题发言。

About the parent
Dr. Chen Zhi, an oculist-in-charge from Eye & ENT Hospital of Fudan University, is a doctor jointly cultivated by Fudan University and University of California, Berkeley.
He is a senior member of International Academy of Orthokeratology & Myopia Control. Dr. Chen has rich experience in customization of personalized solutions of juvenile myopia prevention and control as well as in corneal contact lens fitting, especially OK lens. Dr. Chen is also the author of the popular science cartoon Juvenile Myopia Prevention and Control and Know your Eye Problems Early. He was invited to the US, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Singapore, Malaysia, etc. to make presentation for being the first one to report the “cocktail therapy” of myopia prevention and control.

陈爸爸是一名眼科医生,也是上海闵行区诺德安达双语学校(NACIS)的创校家长之一。这个冬天,陈爸爸和所有父母一样,在猝不及防的情况下被一场超级疫情突然袭击。生活除了将他逼成了家庭面包师、洗碗工和外卖小哥,也将他成功打造成了Jeffrey的“全职功课辅导员”(是陈爸爸认为最痛苦的角色)。疫情当下,与绝大多数的父母一样,陈爸爸每天都在思考如何协助Jeffrey应对铺天盖地的网课?怎样才能将眼睛的伤害减到最小?
对于以上的疑问,陈爸爸的回答是:
网课之余,小区遛娃!
目前,尽管疫情形势刻不容缓,但幸运的是上海并不是本次疫情风暴的中心,在病毒密度微乎其微的环境中被感染的风险概率较小。因此陈爸爸告诉我们,父母是可以在做好防护措施的情况下在本地绝大多数小区内放心遛娃的。就这样,陈爸爸成为了小区里的遛娃专业户,除了每天的线上课堂之外,羽毛球、自行车、滑板车、跳绳成为了Jeffrey和爸爸每天的必修课。
在这次采访的过程中,身兼“全职功课辅导员”及“眼科主治医师”的陈爸爸基于以下几个高频用眼问题,为我们做出了专业的解答。

Dr. Chen is an ophthalmologist and one of the founding parents of NACIS Shanghai. This winter, like all other parents, Dr. Chen’s life was changed because of the outbreak. He had to become the family baker, dish washer and delivery person. Besides, he became Jeffery’s “full-time tutor” (which is the most tortuous character, according to Dr. Chen) At this point, Dr. Chen is thinking every day about how to help Jeffery cope with so many online classes. How to minimize the harm to eyes?
His answer is: exercise in the community with Jeffery at leisure time.
For the time being, despite the urgency of the outbreak, Shanghai is fortunately not at the center of the outbreak and we are at low risk of infection in an environment with minimal virus density. So, Dr. Chen told us that it was OK to go out with children in the majority of local communities with prevention measures were in place. He himself does so. Every day, when there is no class, he plays badminton, rides bicycle, plays skateboard and jumps rope with Jeffery.
During the interview this time, as a “tutor” and an “ophthalmologist”, Dr. Chen gave us professional answers based on the following frequently asked questions.


Q1
请问孩子每天参加线上授课和电视授课,是否会对视力造成很大的影响?
Children have to attend online classes and TV classes every day. Will this leave great influence to their eyesight?
陈爸爸:
近距离工作对视力的影响因素主要有两个,一是用眼距离,二是持续时间。因此,上网课的用眼程度与常规课堂看纸质书本基本是持平的。目前并没有证据显示相较于纸质书本,电子屏幕对眼睛影响更大。因此,不管使用哪种媒介进行学习,都应避免长时间的近距离用眼。
作为眼科主治医生,我很认可NACIS将一节网课的授课时长设置成20-30分钟。每到课间休息,我会立刻请Jeffrey离开屏幕去阳台远眺5分钟。尽管只有短短五分钟的时间,但足以抵消一节网课对Jeffrey眼睛造成的负面影响。
当然,如果一定要选择授课时所观看的电子媒介,我的排序依次将是电视-台式电脑-笔记本电脑-平板电脑-手机。
简单来说,就是“距离越远越好,屏幕越大越好”。

Dr. Chen:
There are two main factors affecting the eyesight, one is the eye distance, the other is the duration of using eyes. Therefore, in online classes, the use of eyes is basically the as much as in regular classes. There is no evidence that electronic screens affect the eyesight more than printed books. So, no matter which device is used for learning, one should avoid using the eyes at a close distance for a long time.
As an oculist-in-charge, I really appreciate that NACIS Shanghai sets the duration of each online class to 20-30 minutes. During the breaks, I often ask Jeffery to leave the screen and look afar on the balcony for five minutes. Even though it is only five minutes, it is enough to offset the negative impact of one online class on Jeffery's eyes.
If I have to choose the electronic device for online classes, my ranking will be: TV - desktop - laptop - tablet - cellphone
In general, the farther, the better.
The larger the screen is, the better it is for students’ eye health.
Q2
请问有什么方法可以帮助孩子缓解眼部疲劳吗?
Is there any way to help children relieve eye strain?
陈爸爸:
说实话,孩子的眼睛没有父母想象中那么容易疲劳。问一问那些能连续5小时玩“王者荣耀”和“我的世界”的小朋友你就了解这个事实了。但是连续用眼会有一个问题,即导致近视的因素在眼睛里悄悄堆积。眼保健操对抗这种因素可起到有限的缓解作用。在非疫情期间,对抗眼部疲劳更好的方法是户外活动。
研究表明,一周14小时,即每天2小时户外活动,即使在静止不运动的环境下,也可以显著延缓儿童青少年近视发病。但若是在室内疯狂的打乒乓球则无用处。户外活动的魅力在于所有的物体都离孩子相对很远,在视网膜上的成像具有保护性。户外活动的魅力在于光照强度比室内高出几十甚至上百倍,促进眼内多巴胺分泌也具有保护作用。
户外的魅力还在于让孩子暂时离开虚拟世界,回到现实生活。
和眼睛近视相比,陈爸爸更担心疫情过后孩子们的“社交近视”。让我们和孩子一起拥抱真实的世界吧!

Dr. Chen:
To be honest, children's eyes are not as easy to get tired as parents imagine. Ask any child who can play Arena of Valor and Minecraft for five hours straight, you will know the fact. However, the continuous use of the eyes can be the factor that causes myopia. Eye exercises have limited relief against this factor. During non-epidemic periods, a better way to combat eye strain is to go outdoors.
Research shows that 14 hours a week or two hours a day of outdoor activity can significantly delay the onset of myopia in children and adolescents, even in a sedentary environment. But it doesn't help to play table tennis crazily indoors. The charm of outdoor activities is that all the objects are relatively far away from the child, and the image on the retina is protective. The illumination intensity of outdoor activities is several dozens or even 100 times higher than that of indoor activities, which help secrete dopamine inside the eye to protect eyes.
The appeal of the outdoors also lies in allowing children to take a break from the virtual world and return to real life.
Dr. Chen is more worried about his child's "social myopia" after the outbreak than his myopia. Let's embrace the real world with our children!

请问屏幕的蓝光对眼睛有影响吗?网课期间是否一定要戴防蓝光眼镜?
Does the blue light of the screen have a bad effect on eyes? Is it necessary to wear blue - proof glasses during the online classes?
陈爸爸:
蓝光是可见光里重要的组成部分,对视觉的色彩对比度、生物节律、情绪都有影响。电子屏幕的蓝光远远没有达到造成眼睛器质性损伤的级别。不过长时间观看屏幕仍然会导致我们出现头昏脑涨的感受,这种不适称作视觉终端综合征(Computer Vision Syndrome, CVS)。
在此,我为大家列举以下几种方法,可以最大程度避免视觉终端综合征的严重程度,从而缓解不适感。
1. 避免连续作业
成人以每40-60分钟为间隔,儿童以每20-30分钟为间隔,休息5分钟后再继续
2. 避免在全暗的环境下使用电子屏幕
忽亮忽暗的光线造成瞳孔括约肌反复收缩会导致疲劳,应在有足够背景光线的环境中使用电脑
3. 尽量避免睡前一小时内使用电子屏幕
这样对昼夜节律和睡眠有显著负面影响,从而影响眼睛
4. 如果配戴防蓝光眼镜感到更加舒适,可以继续配戴。
蓝光眼镜能在一定程度上缓解CVS的严重程度。

Dr. Chen:
Blue light is an important part of visible light, which has an impact on the color contrast, biological rhythm and mood. The blue light from the electronic screen is far from enough to cause organic damage to the eyes. But too much screen time can still cause us to feel dizzy, a condition known as Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). I have listed the following methods for you to minimize the severity of CVS, so as to ease the discomfort.
1. Avoid continuous work
Adults take a rest at intervals of 40-60 minutes and children take rest at intervals of 20-30 minutes.They can continue to work or study after a five-minute break.
2. Avoid using the electronic screen in dark environment.
Repeated constriction of the pupal sphincter caused by flickering light can cause fatigue. Use a computer in an environment with sufficient background light.
3. Avoid using the electric screen one hour before bed time.
This has a significant negative effect on circadian rhythm and sleep, which will lead to a negative effect on eyes.
4. If you feel more comfortable wearing blue light-proof glasses, you can continue to wear them. Blue light-proof glasses can relieve the severity of CVS.

请问如何判断孩子这段期间视力是否下降?过往的常规近视控制方案是否依然有效?
How to judge whether a child’s eyesight declines during this period? Is the routine myopia control scheme still effective?
陈爸爸:
随着疫情逐步稳定,各大医院陆续开放眼科门诊。若感觉孩子的远视力明显不济或者在上在线课程时表现出眯眼、转头视物、频繁眨眼的举动,建议您考虑尽快预约就诊。若没有以上表现,可以自行购买3-5米远使用的标准对数视力表,贴在家里光线好的墙上,量好距离后自行测视力。8岁以上儿童应该有1.0或以上的视力,如果未达到0.6或者戴眼镜的情况没有达到0.6,应该考虑就诊。
有些孩子目前在进行控制近视的治疗,比如配戴角膜塑形镜(OK镜)或者使用低浓度阿托品,疫情当下需继续治疗。若治疗暂停也无需过度紧张,暂停治疗对眼睛的影响非常有限,在疫情结束就第一时间恢复治疗即可。

Dr. Chen:
As the epidemic situation gradually stabilized, major hospitals opened their ophthalmic clinics one after another. If your child's distant vision is noticeably impaired, or if he or she squints, turns his or her head, or blinks frequently during an online class, you can consider making an appointment as soon as possible. If your child does not have above symptoms, you can buy a standard logarithmic acuity chart, stick it on the wall with good light at home, and measure eyesight by yourself in good distance. Children over 8 years old should have visual acuity of 1.0 or above, and should be considered for medical treatment if they do not have visual acuity of 0.6 with glasses.
Some children are currently undergoing treatment to control their myopia, such as the use of keratinoscopy (OK) or the use of low levels of atropine. If the treatment is suspended, there is no need to be excessively worried. The effect of the suspension on the eye is very limited, and the treatment can be resumed as soon as the epidemic is over.

当然,每次户外活动时家长定要督促孩子进行自我防护,尤其应避免扎堆及小朋友交换食物享用。户外活动后保持勤洗手的好习惯,回家后首要的事情是洗手,唱完两首生日歌再关掉水龙头。我也相信,我们再多唱几首生日歌疫情就会过去。至于孩子们耽搁的学业,交给NACIS就好了。
