老师，您好 Meet our teacher-Kevin Demmon 小学部副校长

Kevin是一位经验丰富的老师和领导者，具有很强的文化敏感性，在不同国际学校有二十多年的执教经历。Kevin毕业于澳大利亚凯恩斯的詹姆斯库克大学，拥有教育学学士学位。他之前在越南胡志明市的澳大利亚国际学校担任小学和幼儿园的副校长。在职期间，他运用对学生学习和课程的透彻理解、有效的组织能力，以及对于细节和文化敏感性的关注，大大提高了学生的学习成绩。

Kevin热爱音乐和吉他演奏，他是一位有着数百场演出经验的吉他手。期待在不久的将来，我们可以在美丽的校园里听到他悦耳的吉他声。

Kevin is a very experienced teacher and leader with a strong appreciation of cultural sensitivities and more than 20 years' experience teaching in a variety range of international schools. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Education degree from James Cook University, Cairns, Australia. His previous role at the Australian International School, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam was as Deputy Principal for Primary and Kindergarten. While at the school he enhanced the educational outcomes for a significant number of students, using his clear understanding of student learning and curriculum delivery, along with the extensive organisational skills, his attention to detail and cultural sensitivity.

Kevin love music and guitar. He is a guitarist with hundreds of performances all over the world. Looking forward to the near future, we can hear his sweet guitar sound in our beautiful campus.

I am very excited about working at NAS Jiaxing because it is a brand new school committed to academic excellence. This means that we can begin with ideas from the most recent research and experience in education. At NAS Jiaxing, we will have the very best facilities which will effectively meet the needs of our students. Working in a country is very different to visiting a country as a tourist, so I am also looking forward to experiencing a new culture from the inside.

Bilingual education is an approach which emphasizes the importance of native language or ‘mother tongue’, but also recognises the importance of English as a language around the world. The benefits of learning a new language are well documented and students quickly become adept at switching between them. Students also see similarities and differences more clearly, and this promotes their language development. Working with both languages challenges students to be ambitious and broaden their horizons. In our global environment, being bilingual is a very vital skill.

I attach great importance to the cultivation of students' spiritual character. Apart from specific leadership and educational skills, I will be packing my willingness to learn, my integrity and, possibly most important, my sense of adventure.

在过去30年左右的时间里，我非常幸运地工作和旅行了很多地方。我出生在英国，但在澳大利亚、阿联酋和越南生活和工作过。我还去过很多国家，经常去很长一段时间。我最喜欢的是认识新的人，体验新的想法和做事的方式。我相信这促使我不断思考、质疑，并使我在个人和职业上不断成长。

China is both a beautiful and exciting place to be. When travelling with my family some years ago, we were lucky to see some of this beautiful country and spectacular attractions. Education in China is also at the forefront of recent developments and has a clear commitment to best educational practice. The opportunity to work at a new school in such an exciting place was impossible to resist.

I have been very lucky to work and travel extensively over the last 30 years or so. I was born in the UK, but have lived and worked in Australia, UAE and Vietnam. I have also travelled to many countries, often for extended periods of time. What I enjoy most is meeting new people and experiencing new ideas and ways of doing things. I believe that this keeps me thinking, questioning and growing both personally and professionally.
