著名语言学家吕淑湘先生在谈到课外阅读的作用时曾说“同志们可以回忆自己的学习过程,得之于老师课堂上讲的占多少,得之于课外阅读的占多少,我想大概是三七开吧。 也就是说,百分之七十是得之于课外阅读。” 著名语文教育家叶圣陶先生也曾经有“得法于课内,得益于课外“的观点。同时,语文课程标准中明确提出了:要培养学生广泛的阅读兴趣,扩大阅读面,增加阅读量,提倡多读书,好读书,读好书。


通过观察国际学校里外籍学生的英文阅读,我发现学生的阅读时间比较多,有些学生从早到晚在阅读,课间、吃午饭时、上完体育课后、在校车上……在校园里随处可见在深入阅读整本书的学生。经过测试,班里几个酷爱阅读的五年级“小书虫”, 他们的英文阅读理解水平达到了九年级学生的水平。


在语文学习中,我们不仅重视课堂教学,更要重视课外阅读。一、故事里有生动的情节,符合学生心理特点,学生们喜爱读书;二、通过大量课外阅读,提高了字词的复现率,在潜移默化中达到了记忆和理解的目的;三、学生通过阅读提高了中文理解力,中文理解力的提高有助于学生在各个学科上的学习,包括数学、科学等理科。 四、故事中积极的人物形象和他们所具有的正能力和巨大的精神力量,使人受益终生。如果家长能够从孩子小的时候开始陪伴孩子阅读,和孩子共读一本书,共同讨论一本书,那么将促进孩子的顺利健康成长。

Mr. Lv Shuxiang, a famous linguist, once said about the role of extracurricular reading: "Comrades can recall their learning process, depending on the quality of the teacher's lesson and how much the children read outside of school. In other word, 70 percent of it comes from extracurricular reading. Mr. Ye Shengtao, a well-known Chinese educator, once held the view that "getting the method in class and benefit from extracurricular activities". At the same time, the Chinese curriculum standards clearly put forward: to cultivate students’ interest in reading, expand the scope of reading, and promote a love of reading for pleasure.


By observing the English reading of foreign students in international schools, I found that students spent a lot of time in reading, often from morning till night with their head in a book.  This additional reading, significantly improved the reading ages of international students, compared to those students who simply read texts in school.


In Chinese learning, we not only attach importance to classroom teaching, but also to reading outside the classroom. Firstly, the story has a vivid plot, in line with the psychological characteristics of students, they love reading; Secondly, students can improve the word repetition rate through a large number of extracurricular reading; Thirdly, students improve their Chinese comprehension through reading. The improvement of Chinese comprehension helps students learn in various subjects, including mathematics, science and other sciences. Fourthly, the positive characters in the story and their role model attributes and great spiritual strength, support the students in making informed life choices.  Children should see their parents reading for pleasure and if parents encourage their children to read and read with their children from an early age, it will promote the smooth and healthy growth of their children.
