
作为一所学校,我们致力于培养学生养成热爱阅读的习惯。阅读能不断激发孩子们的好奇心,帮助他们在学习过程中更好地理解书本中的知识。最近,小学部举办了读书周主题活动,鼓励孩子们“快乐阅读”。
阅读可以给孩子们带来诸多益处:它有助于开发认知能力,激发想象力和创造力,并通过观察书中人物间的互动,来培养良好的沟通技巧;它还可以帮助提高孩子们在学习中的专注力,养成自律的学习习惯。同时,它还能减轻压力和焦虑,在当下疫情时期,我们更需要在阅读中寻找快乐。

Reading is something we, as a school, are very passionate about as it can be crucial to unlocking a child’s curiosity and so much of the learning they will do will be through reading texts and books.
The benefits to reading are there for all to see: it can help develop cognitive ability by enhancing their imagination and creativity; it can develop better communication skills through being able to observe the interactions between characters in books; it can reduce stress and anxiety which is hugely important at this time; and it can help increase concentration and discipline.


我校老师也一直在积极地为我们的孩子营造良好的阅读环境,让孩子们能从阅读中获取灵感,并积极探索未知的世界。同时,阅读周也为我们提供了一个绝佳的教育机会来鼓励孩子们多读书,读好书。
不过,我们今年面临的主要问题是:由于这场特殊的疫情,我们的孩子无法相聚在学校来分享阅读的感受,我们需要通过在线学习平台来发布读书周的相关活动。

The staff here at NACIS are hugely devoted to creating an environment where the children feel inspired by the books they read and are actively engaged with wanting to know more about the world they live in. Reading Week provides the perfect opportunity for us to encourage the children to read more.
The obvious issue we face this year though was the fact that we weren’t at school and had to use our e-learning program to deliver the week’s events.

我们创建了一个有声故事图书馆,全校老师都可以在这里发布他们阅读的最喜欢的图书视频。这里汇集了Nick与 Isabel校长,以及中、小学老师的读过的图书视频,供孩子们观看学习。
我们三年级的孩子们完整地阅读了罗尔德·达尔的经典作品《他们之间的蠢人》。这些精彩的故事分为中英文版本,我们也会通过Firefly无限期地向学生开放,为学生提供大量的图书资源。

We created an audio storybook library where teachers across the whole school posted videos of them reading their favourite books.
We had books read by Primary teachers, Secondary teachers and both Principal Nick and Isabel! Grade 3 even read the whole of Roald Dahl’s classic, ‘The Twits’ between them! These stories were read in both English and Chinese and will be available for the children on Firefly indefinitely.

We also held a ‘Caught Reading’ competition for Grades 2-5, where they were challenged to photograph themselves reading in a fun situation or setting. Here are a few examples sent in by our children:


一年级学生面临的挑战是创造一个“罐子里的书”,他们把自己最喜欢的书放在一个玻璃罐子里,创造或诠释一个有意境的场景。在制作过程中,孩子们展现出的艺术天赋令我们印象深刻:

Grade 1 had the challenge of creating a ‘Book in a Jar’ where they created a scene or a depiction of their favourite book which went in a glass jar. We were really impressed with the artistic talents showcased by our children when making these and here are a few examples:

阅读周活动以“换装日”画上了圆满的句号。当天的线上课堂以“阅读”为主题,孩子们和老师都换上了他们最喜欢的书中人物的服装,个个神采奕奕。我们的孩子们和老师们都非常喜欢此次活动,并期盼着未来能开展更多有意义的读书活动。

The week culminated in our ‘dress-up day’ last Friday where several children and teachers held their usual online calls in full costume! The children were dressed in the costume of their favourite book character and the day’s lessons were all based on reading. Both children and teachers thoroughly enjoyed this event and here are a few examples:
