As previously announced, our school has launched an E-learning program in response to the government's decision to close all schools in the city until the end of February.
为了响应上海市教委2月底前不开学的最新指示,学校从上周已经正式开始了线上自主学习项目。

Although our campus is still not open, our first E-learning week was absolutely challenging and task-filled. Our students from home really did their best with incredible dedication and commitment! HQIS teachers are working hard to deliver learning packages, and to extend additional help and time to assist our students in managing the challenges of learning remotely.
“停课不停学”期间,HQIS将继续提供高质量的线上学习资源,供学生在家学习。从第一周的实践成果来看,学生们都完成得很好。老师们也正努力备课,为学生整理线上学习材料,与学生和家长保持密切联系,在远程教学辅导的过程中为同学们提供额外的帮助和支持。

Q1. How to use these e-learning materials?
A: Please follow our video instructions on our class groups. For any detailed information or further explanation please contact our teachers and coordinators.

Q3. How about the other subjects? 其他学科有教学任务吗?
A: There will be daily tasks for PYP, Literacy, Math, and Mandarin, plus a range of PE, Music and Art activities.
Q5. I have some feedback and suggestions. Who should I contact?

A: Your ideas and feedbacks are absolutely welcome! Feel free to contact our coordinators at any time. All of us at HQIS are happy to help to deliver the best academic care for your children, even in these trying times.

We invite you to share your children's home activities with us. We are looking forward to seeing our students carry out their tasks at home! Also, for any questions, feel free to contact our teachers and coordinators.
此外,我们也欢迎家长与我们分享孩子在家的学习情况,我们也很高兴看到学生可以独立自主地完成每天的学习任务。如果家长对线上学习有任何疑问,欢迎联系各年级课程主管和老师。
Also, we would like to provide opportunities for our students to fully interact with HQIS during this period, therefore we invite parents and students to send us student work or videos at home and collect their works during the E-learning session. The material must be related to their assignments and our units of inquiry. Every day we will have a lucky draw, and we will publish the works of our Lucky Learners on our official WeChat platform! We will provide special gifts to those lucky learners!

Today, we are happy to share a video assignment from G9 student Robin. The assignment was completed before the Spring Festival holiday. Last week, we did an interview to Robin via email, and he shared with us some of his learning experiences, thoughts on online learning, and the blessings of China's fight against the epidemic.

Hi Robin! What is the assignment about?
你的作业的内容是什么?
Robin: This is our English assignment. This unit, which is part of Grade 9 programme, is about advertisement and advertisement-related content, and this video helps us better understand the dynamics of advertising by exploring the contents of famous advertisements.
这是我们的英语作业,我们9年级花了一个单元学习广告和广告相关的内容,而这个视频是要我们使用对广告的理解和学习其他优秀作品去做的一个视频。

How did you come up with the video?
你是如何构思这个作业的?
Robin: Advertisement is a huge industry. Advertising comes in different forms, such as videos, posters, and so on. Video advertisement was my first choice. First, I have enough equipment to support the content of my video. Second, I am quite familiar with pre-shooting, and video editing, plus I have some experience. Before starting making my video, I analyzed Chinese and foreign excellent advertisement models to better understand their concept and techniques.
广告是一个十分庞大的行业,广告有不同的形式,例如视频,海报等等。我首先选择的是视频,首先我有足够的设备去支撑我的视频内容;其次我足够了解前期拍摄和后期剪辑,拥有一定的经验。在开始拍摄之前,我看了国内外很多优秀的作品,去了解他们的思路和手法。

How did you finish your assignment?
你是如何完成这个作业的?
Robin: The time given by the teacher was not sufficient for my goal, and I needed three days for the finalization of the concept, shooting and editing. First, I drew a draft. This saved a lot of time. Actually, I was working alone and the whole process was pretty slow. Luckily, in the end, the video was completed within the given time. I think the result is good.
老师给予的时间并不是很充足,所以构思,分镜,前期拍摄和后期剪辑需要在三天内完成。我先画了分镜,这样拍摄会节约不少时间,加上我是单人拍摄,效率一定是比较慢的。最终还是在规定时间里完成了视频,我认为这个最终品还是可圈可点的。

Have you encountered any problems while working on your project? How did you overcome them?
在完成作业的过程中你遇到过什么问题吗?你是如何解决的?
Robin: In addition to lack of time, I faced two major problems during the shooting. I had some issues with the splitter. The reason might be I was alone. I could not get the angle I planned. This can give problems for the editing part. So I solved this issue by adding split lenses. The difficulty lies in how to not change the continuity between the original concept and the video. The second is the scene limitation. First of all, the scene is a school, and I inevitably encountered some restrictions, that’s why I had to change the lens.
除了时间不足以外,拍摄途中遇到两个问题,一是分镜在拍摄途中发现不可行,可能是单人拍摄的原因,拍不出原分镜上的理想画面,这样后期剪辑会出现问题,所以我通过增加分镜来解决这个问题,难点在于如何不改变原来构思和视频之间的连贯性。二是场景的限制,首先场景是学校所以必然会遇到一些限制,这也是改分镜的一大原因。

What is the score you would give to your work? 你给自己的作业打几分(满分100)
Robin: The final product is ok, probably 60 points. You can get the main idea, but I think that pictures and content could have been more abundant.
我认为成品完成度还行,给予自己60分的合格分吧。我的想法可以被体现出来,但很多画面和内容的安排可以更丰富。

What did you learn from this assignment?
通过这次作业,你有什么收获?
Robin: It was a great chance for self-learning, and I also gained experience. Watching others’ works is not the same as making something by yourself. The restrictions that I encountered forced me to create something different from what I expected, so next time I will pay more attention to these circumstances.
这次作业的收获还是一个自我学习和获得经验的过程吧,看别人的视频和自己实际上手拍摄不一样,加上各种限制导致画面并不是最理想,下次拍摄的时候会更加注意这些地方。

What do you want to say to your English teacher? 你有什么话想对你的英文老师说?
Robin: I hope my teacher could give us more time in the future so that we can have more time to make a more complete work.
我希望老师以后能否给予更多的时间,这样我们作为学生可以有更多的时间去做一个完成度更高的作品。

Due to the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, the school launched an online self-study program. How are you studying at home now? Do you have a lot of assignments?
因为疫情影响,学校从上周就开始了线上自主学习计划,现在你在家学习的情况怎么样,作业多吗?
Robin: I think E-learning is a nice way to learn. There is even more homework at home than at school. I hope that the amount of homework can be slightly reduced to give us the chance to hand in the assigned work on time.
我认为网上授课是一个很好的学习方式,作业对于平时上学来说还是偏多的,希望作业量减少,和交作业时间统一。

Do you have anything to say to the teacher and classmates about this outbreak?
对于本次疫情,你有什么话想对老师和同学说的吗?
Robin: Don’t go out unnecessarily, wash and disinfect your hands frequently, wear a mask, eat healthy food, and pay attention to your own safety.
少出门,勤洗手,多消毒,戴口罩,少聚餐,注意自身安全。

Do you have any blessings for China's fight against this epidemic? 对于中国抗击疫情,你有什么祝福语吗?
Robin:
