Multidimensional and Interdisciplinary Ideological 

and Moral Course

In the primary school of NAS Beijing, our characteristic is to focus not only on children's learning in a multilingual environment, but also on children's recognition of traditional Chinese culture. We hope that they can understand the social harmony and the differences between countries in the world in a multicultural environment.

Next, here is going to introduce you a unit of the sixth grade ideological and moral course. The main purpose of this course is to explain the multi-cultural and multi-ethnic customs. First, the teacher divided the students into groups to cooperate and independently find the cultural customs of different countries and nationalities.

The students used the limited time in class to find the cultural differences of many countries, and made slides with the contents that they were interested in. Some groups chose Chinese culture and introduced the multi-ethnic and ethnic characteristics of China, including eating habits, special ethnic festivals and festival activities. Some groups chose the cultural characteristics of other countries, such as the origin and inheritance of Buddhism in Indian culture. Students showed the information they have explored to other students in class through lectures, so that the classmates can learn more knowledge through the sharing.

The process of exploring, cooperation and sharing not only increases students' interest in learning, but also provides opportunities for them to learn from each other. You may  know that this way of collecting, researching and displaying is an indispensable part of foreign university curriculum system and also an important link in curriculum evaluation. Our teachers hope that students can receive this kind of education and teaching mode at their primary school, so that they can adapt to it earlier, and lay a solid foundation for entering foreign universities in the future.

A Lively and Interesting Physics Experiment Class

Physics experiment class is the most effective way for high school students to have a deep understanding of physics principles. NAS Beijing provides students with all-round experimental equipment and facilities, and gives material support for students to explore physics in classes. 

Last week, grade 10 students did a physics experiment on whether different masses of the same substance would affect the process of heat absorption and temperature changes. The students in each group actively participated and carefully recorded the temperature of 50 ml and 100 ml of water, 60 ml and 120 ml of olive oil before and after heating, respectively. They explored which medium would heat up faster. We hope that students can have a deeper understanding of the physics law through experiments and hands-on processes. And their serious attitude and attentive eyes deeply touched our teachers.

Rhythmic Music Lessons

The music course as a cooperative project with Juilliard College is one of the core courses of NAS Beijing. And the keyboard music is an essential part in the music class which is also the students' favorite course. This week's music class focused on the connection between basic and syncopation rhythm, took the Animal Carnival music as the theme, and learned to sing Happy Paradise. Students learned to care for animals and enhanced their awareness of environmental protection with the song. Therefore, the music class in NAS Beijing can not only help them learn music, but also benefit them from interdisciplinary schools. Students can learn little by little about the life conveyed by music through different songs taught by the teachers.
