那厢央视爸爸出手的央视主持人大赛上演各路“神仙打架”，这厢协和万源初中出品的八年级TED Talk 也是精彩纷呈。今年的TED Talk, 从初赛到决赛，八年级所有同学都积极参与，共收到150份精心拍摄的TED Talk视频。

Our G8 TED talk began in this warm winter! During this competition, all the eighth graders participated actively and we received 150 TED Talk video clips.

主题围绕“Creativity” “Innovation”“Motivation”展开，经过每个班级的内部投票，选出了每班两名候选人参加决赛演讲。所有人都期待着12月10日的那天令人激动的决赛，这个冬天很温暖！

The theme centered about "creativity", "innovation" and "motivation". After the first round of competition in each homeroom, two finalists from each class were selected. Everyone in Grade 8 was looking forward to the exciting finale on December 10. Did you feel the heat?!

12月10日，我们期待已久的TED Talk 决赛终于来了。一共十二名选手在决赛的舞台上尽情展现他们的风采。

On December 10, the long-awaited TED Talk finale came. A total of twelve contestants showed their brilliance on the stage and delivered their speeches confidently.

他们有的逻辑清晰、紧密，表达出的语句易懂也蕴含着重要的道理，身上散发出的沉稳与智慧不输任何专业演讲者。

Some of them had clear and connective logic, and the sentences they expressed were easy to understand and conveyed inspiring ideas. The composure and wisdom they exuded were not inferior to any professional TED speaker.

有的演讲者们台风大度，在舞台这种集万千目光于一身的地方也从容不迫，游刃有余。他们有丰富的肢体语言，和观众有不停息的眼神交流。台下的观众们情绪也随着演讲者的情绪而波动，沉醉于其中。

Some of the speakers had wonderful stage manners and they navigated calmly in a place which can easily distracted their attention. They had abundant body languages and constant eye contact with the audience. The contestants brought excitement and power to the audience.

选手们对于舞台的临场应变能力也可圈可点，即使有突发情况的发生，他们也能立即化解。可能有些选手有些紧张，他们会出现忘词的现象，但随即他们就能迅速重新组织语言，继续他们的演讲。有些同学的表演效果太棒了，赢得了意想不到的笑声与掌声，可他们即使意外，却也只是微笑了一下，稍稍调整情绪，继续他们精彩的论述。

The players' on-the-spot adaptability to the stage is also remarkable. Even if there was an emergency, they could resolve it immediately. Maybe some contestants were nervous, they somehow would forget their words, but then they could quickly reorganize their language and continue their speech. Some students presented themselves so well that they won unexpected applauses. Even if something unexpected happened, they kept their cool and did self-correction right away to wrap up the speech as planned.

I believe everyone is excited about TED Talk. When I was recording my 2-min video clip, I felt like a lot of words popping out of my mind. As I write immediately, I thought of Huawei 5G as the theme of my speech---INNOCATION. But difficulty soon appeared since I knew nothing about the professional terms. What I can do only is to read-check-record repeatedly TO ensure it won't stuck when recording. Although I didn’t enter the finale, I was still very happy because I grew a lot in this activity. It triggered my passion of learning and it made me proud of myself.

After enjoying the TED Talk show from students, l was fascinated by their well-chosen themes and inspiring contents. All of them delivered their speeches in a very natural way. At last, l would like to congratulate every student to their show. You did a good job and I learnt a lot from you!

Last week, we held a TED TALK competition. This activity was held by the students. From the class audition to the final performance, the whole process was done by the students themselves. Because of this, I think this event is very meaningful. All the students made a wonderful talk. The talks were interesting and worth thinking about. Although the contestants were nervous, they did the speech well. This event gave us a chance to show our talent in public speaking. The success of this TED TALK was the result of everyone’s hard work.

To be honest, it was quite a shock for me when I was elected to be one of the twelve competitors. I had no experience of public speaking and I was not ready. It was right around that time that I was overwhelmed because of all the tests and activities. So after school I ordered an Venti size Strawberries Frappuccino to calm myself down. And when I was drinking, the words of a song came to me, it’s “I am not throwing away my shot” I started to think of my own shot. So after that Frappuccino(which is super sweet by the way), I thought: I am going to turn these things around, and I will be better, no, I will be the best. So I raised the bar every day, pushed myself as hard as I can, and eventually I did make it to the top. I’m really grateful to have this opportunity to improve myself and I think this experience will help me a lot in the future.

撒花结束

八年级的TED Talk COMPETITION 完美的结束了。同学们从中收获了许多演讲经验和吸收了许多不同却有意思的观点。

The G8 TED talk competition ended perfectly. Our students not only gained a lot of experience on how to make a speech but learned about many different and intriguing perspectives as well.

我们的专业评审从台风，语言使用，演讲内容，流利度与相关度四个方面对选手的表现综合评分，最后通过紧张激烈的比拼，我们角逐出了一等奖3名，二等奖3名以及三等奖6名，分别获得了金话筒奖杯，TEDTALK笔记本和捧花。

The contestants were evaluated from their voice and demeanor, language use, content, fluency and coherence. Based on their comprehensive performances, the judges selected 3 first prize winners, 3 second prize winners and 6 third prize winners. They were awarded gold microphone trophy, TED Talk notebooks and bunched of flowers.

演讲比赛真是太精彩了！12位选手演讲都无比精彩！12位选手以及六位主持人完美演绎了什么叫自信和专业。恭喜所有获奖的选手，同时感谢老师们给了我们这么好的展示机会。希望我们在接下来的日子中，努力练习演讲，思辨能力与批判性思维，为下学期的八年级英语辩论赛做好准备，在下一次的辩论赛中大展协和学子风采。

What a spectacular contest! We would like to give our congratulations to the 12 contestants, 6 hosts and everyone who pitched in. It was them that demonstrated to us the definition of confidence and professionalism. Meanwhile, our sincere thanks would also go to our English teachers who made this happen. We enjoyed the stage and cherished the chance. We do hope that in the coming days, we will try our best to practice speaking and develop critical thinking to welcome the G8 Debate next semester and show how eloquent we will be next April.
