老师，你好-快来认识我们的STEAM老师吧|Meet Our Teacher- Marty Charters

Martin老师毕业于美国俄勒冈州立大学(Oregon State University) ，并取得了地理学学士学位。1993年，他在弗吉尼亚的Old Dominion大学完成了他的硕士学业。持有CELTA认证(剑桥大学英语教师资格证书)及弗吉尼亚州的教学许可证，拥有超过25年的教学经验。

Martin老师曾在阿拉伯联合酋长国，土耳其，中国和越南等国家教学，拥有丰富的IB以及双语教学经验，他在计算机科学、地球与空间科学、地理和中学教育方面获得了学生们的高度认可。

Mr. Charters graduated from Oregon State University in the U. S. with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography, while studying to become a naval officer.  Graduating from OSU in 1985, Mr. Charters served 11 years in the U. S. Navy before beginning his educational career.Mr. Charters completed his studies at Old Dominion University, in Virginia, and received his Master of Science Degree in Education.  Marty has taught in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, China, Vietnam and other countries, with rich IB and bilingual teaching experience.

Mr. Charters earned his CELTA certification, Cambridge ESOL Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from ILA in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2017.  Mr. Charters has his teaching licensed from the state of Virginia and has special endorsements in Computer Science, Earth & Space Science, Geography, and middle years’ education.

Martin 老师认为:双语教育是一种教育，在这种教育中，学生可以受益于学习母语文化同时掌握一门新语言，并学习如何将新语言的知识应用到当前和未来的学习中。双语学习必须是创造性的-老师们会使用提示、插图、音频、视频等方法，来帮助翻译和理解。双语教育还要考虑到双语和多种语言文化不仅仅是语言方面的学习，同时也是对新语言的逻辑思维的培养。学习其他国家的文化可以让学生眼界更加开阔，更包容，更适应不同文化——全球化的思维，这使得我们生活的世界变得更加美好。

Bilingual education is an education where the students get the benefit of learning in their native tongue and well as learning a new language, and learning how to apply that knowledge of the new language to their current and future learning.  Bilingual learning must be creative – using prompts, illustrations, audio, visual, and classmates to assist in translation and comprehension.

Bilingual education also takes into accounts of bilingual and multilingual cultures.  Being bilingual opens the gateways to unyielding opportunities in the years to come.  Learning about other cultures allows students to be more open minded and tolerant – Globally Minded, which makes the world we live in a much better place.

Martin老师非常有同情心，并且乐于助人，作为曾经在美国海军服役11年的军官，在帮助学生学习的同时，他以身作则，言传身教，增强学生们的责任心和责任感。在课堂之外，他非常注重运动，喜欢打网球和舞蹈。他相信，舞蹈不仅可以保持身体的灵活，更有助于大脑的思考。

I like to stay active by playing tennis and teaching people how to dance, and dancing with them.  I like helping those that need helps.  I am very compassionate about teaching and I am a tough lover.  I will do almost anything to help my students learn, but if they do wrong, I will hold them accountable and give them the needed consequence to prevent them from repeating the wrong doing.  I hold students accountable for their work and their learning.
