Community Notice: Return to Campus Update #7

Dear SCIS Community, 

We will look back upon this unprecedented time and recognize, perhaps like no other time in history, that our success was achieved through how communities, cities, countries, and the world worked together. Goals achieved through a common goal of good health, collective effort to maintain well-being, and a shared journey to achieve what will be our new normal. This new normal will bring opportunities to reflect and learn from our past while fulfilling the requirements of the present and building toward the hope of a more meaningful tomorrow. At SCIS, our new normal commences this week as we start the week off by welcoming faculty to campus on Monday, May 4th, followed by our students in grade 10 & 12 on Wednesday, May 6th.

SCIS is pleased to have been approved for a return to campus, and our leadership and operations teams have been hard at work, ensuring every detail for a safe and healthy return to campus learning is in place. A special thank you must be shared with our Return to Campus Taskforce made up of a committed group of System and Divisional leaders, the Government Relations team, and our tireless Operations staff. Their efforts and those of the administrative team have made this return-to-campus learning possible. Further, these teams ensured SCIS maintained health and safety at the forefront of all planning while we prepare a meaningful return to campus experience for our community.

We hope you will take the opportunity to read through these important procedures carefully. On the pages, you will also find our new “Welcome Back to SCIS – What to Expect” videos, guides, and downloadable documents to support your understanding through each step we established to ensure our community’s health and safety.

I want to reiterate that once again, while we will see a transition back to on-campus learning this week, our commitment to providing quality online learning for all students that are not yet able to join us back on campus remains. Delivering engaging and rigorous blended learning experiences, focusing on health and safety, and establishing programs of support for community well-being all become essential elements of how SCIS, in this, our new normal, will deliver on our Mission. All of this is only possible with the strength, the support, and the commitment of our entire school community as we seek to accomplish our goal of once again being…SCIS • Together • 在一起!
