2020届毕业生升学数据分析 | Class of 2020 Admissions Accomplishments

“一部分‘牛娃’包揽顶尖名校是一回事，而让大部分‘普娃’全都被名校录取则完全是另一回事。”

今年在历史上可谓史无前例，我们庆祝2020届的毕业生在这特殊时期开启他们的人生新篇章，同时我们也想庆祝他们在大学申请中取得的史无前例的成就。在之前的微信推文中，我们报道并祝贺了许多被排名前十和前二十大学录取的学生。然而，2020届毕业生的卓越之处在于大量中上游学生的厚积薄发（11%的学生被纽约大学录取，10%被伦敦大学学院录取，9.5%被波士顿大学录取）。

As we celebrate the class of 2020 beginning the next chapter in their lives in a year of unprecedented historical events, we also want to celebrate the unprecedented accomplishments this class achieved in their college admissions. In previous WeChat articles we have celebrated and profiled many of our students that have gotten into top 10 and top 20 universities.  One thing that makes the class of 2020 exceptional is how well the mid-level students who did. 

一部分尖子生包揽顶尖名校是一回事，而大部分普通学生都被名校录取则完全是另一回事。以下是今年申请季升学数据的一些亮点。

It is one thing when a handful of star students rack up great admissions, it is a whole different accomplishment when such large percentage of the student body get into top schools. Here are a few highlights.

无论如何计算英国申请数据，都不得不说今年是我们四年以来最好的录取结果。在少数学生申请英国方向的情况下，仍收获了一个剑桥，两个伦敦政经LSE，三个帝国理工，十九个伦敦大学学院UCL。最受学生欢迎的三所名校是：伦敦大学学院、曼彻斯特大学、华威大学；四年里，这三所学校的录取offer数翻了不止一番。（见下方图表）

Any way you examine our UK results, we have to say it is the best year we have had in the four graduating classes. Cambridge, two LSE’s and three Imperial offers are a great accomplishment, especially since it is only a minority of our students that apply to the UK. UCL, Manchester, and Warwick are three of the most popular, highly competitive universities. As an example, I have selected offers received from three universities which more than doubled.

波士顿大学和纽约大学历年来都是最受中国学生欢迎的本科选择，它们竞争大、排名高，因此这两所学校收到的申请也是最多的。根据U.S.News，去年纽约大学所有来自世界各地的申请学生中，录取的概率是20%，波士顿大学为22%。对中国申请者的录取率可以想见只会更低，而在七宝德怀特2020届申请了纽约大学和波士顿大学的七德学生中，录取率分别是48%和44%，被录取的人数占七德总体学生数的20%。我猜想，很难有其他高中能超过我校毕业生的录取数量。（见下方图表）

Boston University and New York University, over the years, have been two highly competitive, highly ranked universities that are among most popular with Chinese undergraduate students and accordingly have received the most applications year after year. According to US News and World Report, NYU’s admissions rate was 20% last year.  Boston University’s admission rate was 22%. QD’s class of 2020 admission rate this year is 44% for Boston University and 48% for NYU. I think it would be hard to find a graduating class in another high school that did as well as our students in terms of number of admits.

由于其小规模和对英语的高要求，文理学院对中国学生来说向来是个挑战，挑战最激烈的学院每年可能只招收个位数的中国学生。七德2020届毕业生新摘取了3所文理学院：韦尔斯利学院、斯克里普特学院、耶鲁-新加坡国立大学学院。

Due to their small size and high English language requirement, liberal arts colleges are always a challenge for Chinese students. The most competitive colleges might only accept a couple of Chinese students each year. The class of 2020 added three new Liberal Arts Colleges, Wellesley, Scripps and Yale NUS.

耶鲁-新加坡国立大学学院位于新加坡，是耶鲁在国际上唯一合作的本科院校，很大比例的生源来自于新加坡本土。无庸多语，这对中国学生来说竞争极其激烈。

Yale NUS, a liberal arts college in Singapore, is the only international undergraduate partnership that Yale has. The majority of its admits are from Singapore. Needless to say, it is extremely competitive for Chinese students.

2020年对高中毕业生来说是具有历史意义的一年。6个月前，2020届学生对他们离开象牙塔后将进入一个什么样的世界一无所知，这个世界显然与他们三年前选择七宝德怀特时的想象完全不同。学生和家长选择国际教育是出于对全球化理念的信仰，尽管海外留学的前方还充满着不确定性，但仍有一样东西是每位学生可以依靠的——那就是教育。

2020 is an historic year to graduate from high school. It is the year when the whole world changed. 6 months ago, the class of 2020 didn’t know they would be graduating into a very different world than what they might have imagined 3 years ago when they chose Qibao Dwight for their education.  Students and their families chose an international curriculum because they believe in the value of understanding the world. Although there are many uncertainties that the class of 2020 will be facing as they begin their overseas study, there is one thing that each and every one of our students can rely on; education. 

无论世界怎样改变，教育都会继续。在过去三年里，他们努力学习所获得的思考能力和沟通技巧，是无法被夺走的。他们应有自信，在高中经历的艰难困苦都将让海外留学生活受益匪浅。

Education is something that will remain constant no matter how much the world changes. The thinking and communication skills students have worked so hard to obtain, over the last three years, can’t be taken from them.  Each student should feel confident that the struggles they have had in high school have brought them benefits that will help them as they face their lives as international students. 

最后，这个世界需要你们，你们勤奋学习来了解世界，愿意并且有能力促进全世界的互相理解。

More than ever, the world needs students like our 2020 graduates who have worked hard to understand the world and who are willing and able to increase international understanding.
