2020年4月18日，ASDAN中国（阿思丹学院）举办的 “2020年袋鼠数学竞赛” 在线上及考点学校同时进行。来自30多个省份、230多个城市的近22000名同学共同参与此次参赛。

此次宁波诺德安达的参赛学生获得了1个超级金奖，2个银奖，来自五年级的楼同学获得了高中一年级（等级五）的超级金奖，来自七年级的应同学和肖同学获得了初中一年级（等级四）的银奖。

18th April, 2020, 22000 students were doing their Math Kangaroo competition online or in their respective MK

exam center.

A special shout out to the students from NAS Ningbo for their outstanding performance during the MK. They have won one Top Gold and 2 Silver from the exam. CONGRATULATIONS to Lou from Grade 5 (Level 5-Grade 10 Top Gold) and Ying and Xiao from Grade 7 (Level 4-Grade 7 Silver).

借此机会，我们想要特别祝贺五年级的楼同学，在此次比赛中，楼同学的成绩超越了等级五（高一年级）中98%的同学，获得“超级金奖”！作为一名小学生，获得如此殊荣不仅展现了楼同学对数学的热爱和天赋，而且也让我们看到了他勇于挑战自我的精神。

We would like to congratulate to Lou, who outperformed 98% of the students in Level 5, and he won the Top Gold prize (Level 5-Year 10). As a primary student, not only Lou has expressed his passion and talent for mathematics, but also he showed us the challenging spirit.

“在我的数学课上，楼同学大多时候都是沉默的，或许在有些老师看来，楼同学是属于那种“学习不积极的孩子”。但是经过耐心的沟通，我发现，之所以楼同学在课堂上提不起兴趣，是因为他的数学掌握程度已经达到了中学水平。

而后，我为楼同学实施了个性化教学，给了楼同学更多向上挑战的机会。在课堂中，有时安排楼同学担当“小老师”的角色，为其他学生提供解题思路。既锻炼了他自己，同时也为其他孩子提供了不同的学习视角。在课堂外，我结合以往十几年的教学经验，为楼同学提供具有挑战性的学习素材，并鼓励他不断挑战自我。我认为每个孩子都有他独特的闪光点，作为老师，我们需要练就一双火眼金睛，不断地帮助、引导、鼓励孩子们爱上学习，并使他们成为舞台上的主角。”

“Lou is very quiet in most of my math lessons, which might appear to be “an inactive student” to some teachers. However, I later found out that the main reason is that Lou’s math proficiency has reached to secondary level.

Thus, I implemented individualized learning to Lou to facilitate his math learning. When in class, I sometimes assign him as an assistant teacher to bring new perspective to other fellow students. When after class, I would provide challenging math materials to Lou and help him keep challenging himself. As a teacher, it’s my responsibility to help, guide, and encourage students to be a better person.”

袋鼠数学竞赛由澳大利亚著名数学家 Peter O’Halloran 于1980年发起。1991年，法国两位著名数学教育家成立正式竞赛组委会并在欧洲推广该项赛事，为了向 Peter O’Halloran 致敬，将该竞赛正式取名为“袋鼠数学竞赛”。

不同于传统数学奥赛强调的高难度和挑战性，袋鼠数学竞赛宗旨是用有趣生动、接近生活的题目，激发孩子们数学学习兴趣及自信，培养学生数学思维，训练学生阅读、理解、分析和解决问题能力，适合各年级各种数学水平同学参加。因此，袋鼠数学竞赛逐步风靡世界，成为全球极具影响力的青少年国际数学竞赛，87个国家和地区举办、每年超过600万学生参加。

2019年，ASDAN 中国（阿思丹学院）正式与袋鼠数学国际委员会达成独家战略合作，成为袋鼠数学竞赛中国赛区组委会，致力于把这项国际著名的数学兴趣活动推荐给中国青少年数学爱好者。优秀考生将获得由组委会颁发的奖项，奖项设置分为全球奖项（成就奖，满分同学将获该奖项），中国区奖项（超级金奖、金奖、银奖、铜奖、数学技能奖）。

Math Kangaroo is proposed by Peter O’Halloran, an Australian mathematician and teacher, in the 1980's. In 1991, this idea was taken up in Paris, France. Very quickly, it spread throughout Europe. The competition began to be called “Kangaroo” because of its Australian origin.

The main purpose of Math Kangaroo is to promote mathematical thinking and stimulate an interest in math, by providing students with an opportunity to compare their abilities against the abilities of other students, from different countries around the world. Math Kangaroo is now the largest competition for school students in the world, with over 6.3 million participants from 87 countries.

ASDAN China (ASDAN Academy) and Math Kangaroo have formed a partnership to bring the Math Kangaroo Competition to China from 2019.
