什么是世界地球日?
What is Earth Day?

世界地球日即每年的4月22日。它是一项世界性的环境保护活动。该活动旨在提醒我们地球正面临着很多问题,比如环境污染、水污染等。呼吁人们保护我们共同的家园!
在这一天,融合课程部的各科老师围绕“地球日”,带领学生们展开了一场关于环境保护的探索之旅。
April 22nd is World Earth Day. It's a day to warn us the Earth is facing problems such as air pollution and water pollution. It also tells us it's time to save the Earth!
On that day, the students of EMW learned about Earth Day and had a discussion about how to protect the Earth.



地球日之戏剧课
Earth Day in Drama Class

戏剧课上,Ms Trim和Ms Cole组织学生展开了一系列的活动。
首先,学生们观看了关于世界地球日的短片,对该活动的历史和目的有了初步的了解,同时老师们点出了今年活动的主题:气候变化。基于视频的内容,学生们展开了热烈的讨论。
Ms Trim and Ms Cole, Drama teachers of EMW, organized some activities for students to do in Drama.
Firstly, they had to watch some videos on Earth Day and the theme for 2020: Climate Change. Based on the videos there had discussions about what they had leaned.


课后他们以“地球日”为主题创作了海报。这些作品有些是个人独立创作的,也有的是二三人合作完成。学生作品的质量之高令人惊叹。
Then they had to create an original digital poster about Earth Day. This digital poster could’ve been done as individual, in a pair or a group. We were very impressed with the quality of the work submitted by the Students.



目前,学生们正在着手完成新一轮的挑战,即通过录制段视频向大家分享我们应该怎么做才能对气候变化产生积极的影响。
学生们的作品很快将呈现在大家面前。敬请期待哦!
This week they are working on creating short videos where they share more information and thoughts on how they can positively impact Climate Change.

地球日之科学课
Earth Day in Science Class

在科学课上,Mr Barrett以海洋中的化学为主题,和学生讨论了目前海洋面临的问题,引起这些问题的原因以及可能的解决方法。
In Science class, the students explored the topic - Ocean Chemistry- together with Mr Barrett. They looked at the biggest issues facing the ocean, the causes of these issues and the possible solutions.


在另一位科学老师Mr Iqbal的课堂上,学生们也就如何减少环境污染、改善水染和保护濒危物种等方面展开了学习和讨论。
In Mr Iqbal's class, the students talked about how to help improve air pollution and water pollution as well as how to protect the endangered species.



地球日之德语课
Earth Day in German Class

德语老师Ms Weber也给大家带来了一项任务——发挥想象力,创造一名拯救地球的超级英雄。同学们还需要用德语具体介绍这位英雄拥有何种能力来帮助地球,而我们又能从他们身上学到什么。
Ms Weber, German teacher of EMW, asked the students to create a superhero, like Earth Man or Girl, who can save the planet and describe what those heroes do to save the world.

地球日之历史课
Earth Day in History Class

八年级的历史课堂上,Mr Emerson引导学生从历史的宏观角度探索和研究“人类活动是否威胁到了全球生物的多样性?”以及“再生能源能否代替石油”等话题。
从学生们的作业中,我们看到了他们深刻的思考及精准的分析能力。



In History Class of Grade 8, Mr Emerson helped the students to study and discuss the topics such as "Does Human Activities Threaten global Biodiversity?" and "Can Renewable Energy Relpace Fossil Fuels?"
From the student work, we can see their deep thinking and exploration of the related themes.



地球日之艺术课
Earth Day in Art Class

在艺术组组长Ms Cole的引导下,8年级的学生们探索了塑料的使用年限以及它们对环境的影响。
Led by Ms Cole, Head of Art, Grade 8 students looked at the lifespan of plastic and its effects on the environment.
它们讨论了如何对材料进行循环利用、减少资源的损耗以及如何避免少用塑料,从而保护环境。
They discussed how they can reuse, reduce and recycle materials and what they can do to limit their plastic use and protect the environment.


8年级这段时间在学习肖像画,于是他们把塑料瓶收集起来,对它们进行二次利用,改造成肖像花盆。
As they have been looking at portraiture, the grade 8s collected plastic bottles of all kinds, and were able to reuse them and repurpose them into…plant pot heads.
通过制作肖像花盆,学生们既锻炼了肖像画的技巧,又对塑料进行了再利用,将它们变废为宝,同时还对种植产生了浓厚的兴趣。
By making these creative and fun plant pot heads they were able to utilise their portrait skills whilst reusing plastic and preventing it being thrown away, and also encouraging plantation and growth.


地球母亲给予了我们生活的地方,给予了我们食物、水和空气。作为回报,我们也应该行动起来,保护我们的地球母亲!
The Earth is like our mother. She gives us a place to live. She gives us food, water and air. In return, we should also do something to protect her!
