在学校里，科学有时候看上去就像罗列在课本中一系列单独的而又静态的事实描述。但科学更是一个发现的过程，它使我们能够把孤立的事实与对自然世界的连贯和全面的理解联系起来。

在教科融合课程部，我们希望让学生了解到科学一点也不抽象，它既不是公式的堆积，更不是没完没了地做题，而是从现实中来又回到现实中去。

在科学课堂上，学生们始终在老师的引导下，“做中学”并“学以致用”。

比如，在教授“饮食与均衡饮食”这一课题时，我们的科学老师将课堂知识融入到实际生活的运用中。学生们的其中一项任务就是根据当天家中的一餐饭，从中精准定位每一个食物中所包含的各种营养元素。

In school, science may sometimes seem like a collection of isolated and static facts listed in a textbook, but that's only a small part of the story. Just as importantly, science is also a process of discovery that allows us to link isolated facts into coherent and comprehensive understandings of the natural world. 

At JK EMW, the students will know that science is neither a series of abstract definitions or formulas nor endless exercises. Science comes from our life, and finally works for it.

In Science class at EMW, the students are encouraged to learn by doing and apply what they've learnt. 

When the students were learning "Diet and Balanced Diet", one of their tasks designed by Mr. Barrett, the science teacher of EMW, was to take a photo of a meal and drink and correctly identify the 7 nutrient groupsto show they know some examples of foods which contain each nutrient group.  

又比如，在学习“消化系统”时，学生们通过设计图表、创作漫画、利用PPT进行演讲等任务，将消化系统中的10个器官及它们的功能等知识进行了内化和吸收，真正转化为自己的东西。

And when they were learning "The Digestive System", they tried to design a diagram, a comic strip and a powerpoint presentation on the digestive system, through which they fully absorbed and internalized the knowledge of 10 organs of the digestive system.

通过各种实践作业，学生们掌握了均衡饮食的构成、了解了人体消化系统中各个器官的作用。同时也感受到了科学的乐趣及魅力。

Through the tasks, the students learned about the 7 nutrient groups found in a balanced diet and their different uses by the body as well as how the 10 organs help the 5 processes of digestion. Futhermore, they have experienced the charm of Science.
