This week we would like to talk about the Juilliard-NAE Performing Arts Collaboration and how our students at NACIS Shanghai will benefit from this collaboration.

The performing arts are creative keys that can unlock your child’s imagination and significantly transform their education. Learning music, dance and drama has wide-reaching benefits for children, providing them with the tools to think creatively, innovate, and appreciate diverse cultures and backgrounds. Several studies show that students who participate in the performing arts achieve more academically, paying dividends in the classroom and preparing them for success now and in the future.

At Nord Anglia Education and NACIS Shanghai we are passionate about all three performing arts. All students in our schools around the world experience music, dance and drama as they form an important part of our curriculum from the age of 4 right through to middle school. We strongly believe all three subjects play a crucial role in enabling our students to develop into intelligent, confident and well-rounded global citizens.

Juilliard designed teaching materials – creative activities, historical information, rehearsal strategies, and professional development resources lead students through explorations of core works of music, dance, and drama and emphasize building students’ personal artistry through their own creativity.

Juilliard Curriculum Specialists

Juilliard curriculum specialists are experienced educators and artists who have expertise in The Juilliard Approach to Classroom Instruction, teacher collaboration and Juilliard Creative Classroom resources. In addition to supporting our teachers to successfully implement the enhanced curriculum, curriculum specialists engage teachers, students and the school community through co-leading workshops with teachers for parents and school staff, providing professional development opportunities for teachers, coaching student ensembles, leading rehearsals and class discussions.
