校长说 是什么使宁波诺德安达与众不同 Principal's Message What Makes Us Special?

This question is one in which I am very proud to answer! I have written in many WeChat posts what makes NAS Ningbo, Fenghua special. If you are a regular reader of my posts, you will recall my references to our ongoing collaborations with The Julliard School, MIT and UNICEF. I have also written about our personalized approach to teaching and our unique Global Campus program. Today, I want to continue to share with you what makes our school special and to accomplish this, I want to share with you four quotations from a current student, teacher and two parents.

1.    一名小学部学生:

“宁波市奉化区诺德安达学校的老师非常好。我们相互尊重，老师们经常鼓励我表达自己的观点，并且和他们以及班级的其他同学进行分享。自从我转为宁波市诺德安达学校的寄宿生后，我变得更加自信和独立。此外，优秀教学团队中的每一位老师的独特教学方法和教授给我们的学习方法，让我的学习成绩有了显著的提高。”

1.    From a Primary Student:

 “The teachers at NAS Ningbo are very nice. We respect each other, and they often encourage me to express my own opinions and share with them and the fellow classmates. I have become much more confident and independent since I transferred to NAS Ningbo as a boarding student. In addition, my overall academic performance has improved dramatically because of the excellent teachers’ better teaching methods and the learning methods they have taught me.”

2.    一位小学部外籍教师:

“为年小的学生授课是十分具有挑战性的，因为他们一开始很难理解我的要求。但是，一年级的学生们学习能力很强，这一点令人印象深刻，因此一学期的学习让我看到了他们在学业上取得了显著的进步。现在，他们可以自信地用英语进行交流，这对我来说确实是一次难得的经历，我相信我的学生们都具有极大的潜力。”

2.    International Primary Homeroom Teacher:

 “Teaching young students is quite challenging because it was difficult for them to understand my instructions at first. However, the Grade 1 students’ learning ability is impressive, and they have made remarkable progress in the first semester. Now, they can speak English confidently, which is indeed rewarding experience for me. I believe that there is a tremendous amount of potential in my students.”

3.    一位寄宿生家长:

3.    Parent of a Boarding Student:

 “I’m very happy to tell you that my son has done an excellent job at home. He spent the weekend at home last week, and he did his homework, washed up, arranged his bed, all by himself without my supervision.” I’m really excited to see his progress, and thank you so much for your help!”

4.    一位走读生家长:

“宁波市奉化区诺德安达学校的整体设施都非常棒。此外，中西方合二为一的课程对提高孩子的批判性思维能力、沟通能力和自信心有着极大的帮助。此外，我每周都会收到来自中外方班主任老师对孩子一周的学习反馈，每一周的反馈内容都十分详细和深刻。更重要的是，孩子在诺德安达能够产生对读书的向往和喜爱，这是我最惊喜的。我也非常乐于向我的朋友们推荐宁波市奉化区诺德安达学校。

4.    Parent of a Day School Student:

 “The overall facility at NAS Ningbo is excellent. In addition, the blended Chinese and Western curriculum is really helpful to improve my kid’s critical thinking skills, confidence, and communication skill. Besides, the weekly student feedback I receive from the Chinese and expat homeroom teachers is very detailed and insightful. Most importantly, I’m satisfied that my kid now enjoys studying at this school. I will more than happy to recommend NAS Ningbo to my friends.

I would like to thank these four community members for sharing their experiences. NAS Ningbo, Fenghua is truly a caring community. 

A common theme from our community members is just how well our wonderful teachers have instilled confidence in children. Student confidence is an important factor in educational success. Decades of research supports the idea that believing in your ability to do something enhances your ability to do it.  Building confidence in students is one of the most important steps NAS Ningbo, Fenghua teachers can take to ensure a positive atmosphere for learning. Our parents also give credit to our teachers for instilling confidence in our students. 

In our recent Parent Satisfaction Survey, 86% of our parents reported that their child has developed more confidence since joining NAS Ningbo, Fenghua. This is an impressive statistic! In my next WeChat post, I will share with our followers more detailed information about the excellent results from our Parent Satisfaction Survey.
