"视觉艺术是人们现代日常生活不可或缺的一个部分，已经渗透在日常表达、交流、理解等各个方面。Visual Arts (视觉艺术) 是IBDP课程第六组科目中的一门艺术课程。在两年的学习过程中，同学们用多面的视角对周围的事物进行了崭新的观察和思考。探索对象小到日常生活中的事物，大到宇宙和生命奥义的哲思。同学们凭借丰富的想象力和创造力，用视觉艺术的方式，让平平无奇的事物或是晦涩抽象的概念得以变得生动有趣。

每到毕业季，视觉艺术课程毕业班的同学们都会通过校园展览的形式与大家分享自己对艺术的体验、观点与感悟。而今年因为疫情的影响，我们将以线上展览的形式向大家展示同学们的视觉艺术作品。疫情限制了大家远游踏春的步伐，不如让两个班的VA生带领我们穿梭在生活、自然、社会等等的艺术主题，感受艺术，欣赏艺术，进行一次前所未有、充满惊喜的春游吧！"🍃

"The theme of my exhibition is self-exploration. I hope to find ways to explain my dreams and answer my curiosity through these pieces."

"The theme of my exhibition is the pressure brought by urban society. I aim to call our attention to slow down sometimes and reflect on the status quo during the rapid progression of urban society. I concentrated on the exploration and presentation of variouspressures brought by the products of urban society development that has imposed on us, which includetechnological inventions, complicated social rules and disciplines, strict surveillancesystem, cut-throat peer competitions and so on."

"My works shows negativity and the process of trying to resolve it. The main idea that I want to express is that although sadness and difficulties are unavoidable, but hope always exists. Life would always be more positive if one embraces the hope and breaks through this dilemma."

"My exhibition demonstrates the beauty of wildlife and the common dilemma wildlife is currently facing. The main idea behind such demonstration is that we should treat wildlife fairly and offer wildlife respect since they protect our ecosystem. As a result, we can stay responsible for our own future."

"Everyone dreams—— nightmares, daydreams, wonderful dreams... For me, my dreams are sometimes irrational, sometimes realistic, sometimes between unreal and real. Through these dreams, I discovered “another reality” inside my head. That reality is a strange one where I can see different things, including the legendary phoenix, myself composed of a smaller of me, or a rainbow in my phone.These imaginary things I see when I am “dreaming” as I mentioned before are special and unique. Everyone is “dreaming” in their own ways, and everyone has created his or her own reality, one forged by imagination just like in the movie——Inception. In that new reality, there is no limits to what can happen..."

Yan, Feng, Visual Arts SL G12 class:

"The influence of technological development had on the determinism thinking of both individuals and society is the central theme of my artworks. My art-making begins with an exploration of the question “Are we our genes, or can we be more?” My answer is a 3D-model and printed artwork after viewing a media artwork by Lorenz that discussed the little difference between humans and bacteria genes. I want to lead my audiences to think more profoundly about whether we can go beyond our natural limitations by reconstructing a rabbit by exhibiting its genetic codes upon the surface. Then, my theme gradually evolves as I continued to explore the challenge technology brought to other fields: religion, culture, self-identification, and eventually art itself. All remind the audiences how technology reshaped the things we think we know..."

Kong,Jiacheng, Visual Arts G12 SL class:

"I live and study in Shanghai, a great metropolis in China where the cement forest with huge skyscrapers towers everywhere. The daily sight of the vast gulf between the rich and poor stirred my compassion as these non-native residents work so hard to pay for the exorbitant cost of living they must bear in order to reside in the fastest developing city in China. The stressful city life made many of them depressed, including students in a competitive environment. As a result of my observation, I wanted to use my art to express the life of people this metropolis..."

Wang, Yichen, Visual Arts G12 SL class:

"Art is bread and butter. Think about your Mac-Book pro, if I change its colour for you would you still use it like it’s the same? What if I change it’s texture or shape instead? In these interactive artworks, I want you to think about the object around you that you have taken for granted, and see if you can find a way to improve them. I defined five quality that a craftsman should consider: comfort, straightforwardness, health, efficiency, and aesthetics. I will show five designs that will essentially show each of these five qualities. All my artworks have a light hue with the shades helping lead the focus on the 3D rather than 2D composition. I would encourage my audience to touch and feel all my artworks for the experience is only complete only if interaction takes place..."
